Adele’s Cat Eye

I’m sharing this for two reasons…

1…the REMARKABLE ability for color cosmetics to transform the way a person looks.  It can literally go from waking you up…to adding a youthful glow…to creating a WHOLE other persona!

2…as a long-time performing athlete, this was a skill I needed to learn EARLY.  I’m blessed to say I will be getting married in October of this year and I am super fortunate that I have experience doing all this myself!!!  (That said tutorials are always fabulous refreshers! 😉 )

I know everyone loves videos and tutorials, and this was just a terrific little post from Beauty Chatter on Bloglovin (which, sadly, doesn’t support WordPress!)

Enjoy it! 🙂

Summer 2016 – Hourglass Illume Sheer Color Trio

Hourglass seems to be full steam ahead, taking no time to revel in the successes of the various Ambient products (powders and new primers)…

The newest goody, now available on Sephora’s site, is called the Illume Sheer Color Trio.  This multitasking product is designed to “define, brighten, and highlight your face.”  It combines a bronzer, a highlighter, and a just-flushed blush, all in cream-to-satin formulas.

The highlighter claims to add a “luminous glow without heavy glitter or shimmer.”  For me, that’a s HUGE plus – I don’t want to sparkle in the sun…I just want to glow.

All three shades are sheer and buildable, allowing you to achieve youthful, fresh radiance with a completely natural look.

It sounds pretty awesome – $62 is a lot, but if it becomes a holy grail for you, it’s worth it.  Personally, I’d love to snag just the blush shade!

Alessandra Ferri for Boots

Boots has recruited the beautiful Alessandra Ferri to promote their newest serum, No7 Lift & Luminate Triple Action Serum.  As a long time dancer, I LOVE seeing this beautiful athlete back in the limelight (not only on stage!) well beyond what the traditional path (as a professional athlete, ballerina etc…) allows.  Refreshing and inspiring!

Ferri was the youngest dancer at the Royal Ballet back when she was just 19 years-old.  Now, at 52, with the rank of Prima Ballerina Absolute, she is still performing…and showing us that we actually can age gracefully.  ❤

I love that the Company chose her to represent a product designed for our aging skin – nothing frustrates me more than seeing a 20 year-old as the face of an age-defying cream!  I mean really?

The Company claims, thanks to Matrixyl 3000 Plus (TM), that this is the most effective of their anti wrinkle technologies. From the sound of it, this newbie is getting awesome reviews already, living up to claims of reducing wrinkles, firming skin, and evening out skin tone.

Say Hello To Sexy

Well…I guess the “strobe” trend has gone global (so to speak!)  It went from face…to face and décolletage…to face, décolletage AND the legs.  Why not, I suppose?

So if you are thinking that your visage is more youthful, highlighted and radiant…but that your gams don’t match, fear not…there are new products for you!

Say Hello To Sexy Legs Illuminating Fluid is a “lightweight, transfer-resistant highlighting cream with a splash of shimmering pearls.”  I don’t know about that shimmer part but I guess if you want to glow…

For those who want to do a little photoshop reshaping, the Say Hello To Sexy Legs Contour Stick is your trick-o-the-trade.  Ultra light, easy to apply and also transfer resistant, this can be used anywhere you like to add (or subdue) lines.

Pretty snazzy for a night on the town…  Or, maybe a stroll in the park?

The Estee Lauder Edit

I had seen some articles about this new launch, The Edit, from Estee Lauder a couple of months ago, though it was more challenging to get additional information at the time.  The reason it resonates with me is two-fold…

Growing up my mother ALWAYS stressed the importance of skincare – she is 73 and, in my opinion, looks great for (and unlike) her age.

Second, I wrote my thesis in Business School about Estee expanding into Asia – at the time (this was 1999 or so), Asian products were NOT easy to come by.  These days – especially in the last two years or so – they have become almost “cult” here in the states.  Of course I’m beaming because I’m thinking “I TOLD YOU SOOOO!” 😀 <—*insert smug grin here!*

I have always and ever been enamored with Asian skincare – the ladies across the ocean (from me, anyway!) weren’t out basking in the sun, and I saw that they took extra time and care of their epidermis, things that mattered to me even at a young age.  I can’t say at almost 38 that I am NOT showing signs of aging myself, but I do feel that I am “aging well,” thankfully.

So I LOVED hearing that Estee was branching out, not because it isn’t already a fabulous brand, but because it always had that “older appeal.”  It seemed more geared for, and fitted to, and older crowd – one perhaps that isn’t “aged,” but that does have concerns about aging.  So The Estee Edit is like a fresh update for the brand, bringing in, and catering to a younger market.  The brand / segment is chic, youthful, and fashionable, and there is a true modern (and glow-enhancing!) edge to the products (brightening powder, lip color transformers, flash illuminators…)  AWESOME.

There have been several posts about it recently so allow me to share!

Lorac Light Source

Lorac is following on the tails of a massive highlighting…er…strobing…trend with their Light Source Illuminating Highlighters.  There’s really nothing quite like having an ethereal glow – when I workout it’s a glow for sure, but I’m not sure it qualifies as ethereal exactly!

These beauties appear to come in four gorgeous, pale pink shades, though details are yet to be announced.

I try my best to steer clear of glitter and shimmer these days because I prefer to be as natural and bare as I can manage.  Still, a gentle swipe of highlighter strategically placed can not only brighten and give you a rested appearance, but it also lends that youthful, baby glow that we all aim to maintain (or achieve when it’s nowhere to be found!) 😉

These look utterly divine…

Holiday 2015 – Pony Effect

Pony Effect’s Holiday Collection, “That Girl,” has come to the USA by way of Memebox.

I personally LOVE the add images – there is no question that there are tons of enhancements and light adjustments, so I’m not suggesting it represents reality.

What I love about it are the colors – it’s vibrant and fun, with a good does of youthful sass – case in point, her GORGEOUS ombre hair!  Note also the color-shifting rainbow fonts – it’s energetic all around!

In any case, the Collection is composed of five items:

  • Outfit Lipstick
  • Illusion Nail Lacquer
  • Fever Shadow Palette

  • Luminous Contouring Palette
  • Holiday Limited Collection Set

There’s nothing humdrum about this Collection at all, but it is also wearable – if you are feeling blue with the darker, colder months, this looks like a fun pick-me-up without being too over the top.
