New Physicians Formula

Sharing because I’ve not seen these posted, but did see them in-store.  What’s interesting is their whole “InstaReady” and “filter” angle – certainly not new (from them or other cosmetic companies) but largely speaking to modern culture’s obsession with social media (this could take a positive spin…or a negative one – that’s up to the individual!)

What it means for companies is that though cosmetics have always been designed to help us achieve and us-but-better look – why bother, otherwise? – the approach has shifted to facilitate looking even better (airbrushed, anyone?!) in photos and video.  In addition, the focus is also on getting ready as quickly as possible – how do I add a filter asap without the camera, kind of thing…

Martial Arts Humor – The Jiu-Jitsu Man Bun, By Tyson Gay

Love that this super black belt, Tyson Gay, posted how you keep your long locks from getting totally yanked to oblivion on the mats!  (I have, myself, heard the telltale *RIP!* only to see my strands – MANY – laying there helplessly!)

That said, his hair is incredibly fine, so if yours is fuller…it may not stay so nicely!

Fortunately it didn’t get yanked when this was taken! 🙂

I’ve tried all sorts of bun permutations.  They’ve all come out, or needed to be redone.  Still, that’s kind of par for the course when you Jiu-Jitsu and have layered hair…

More Martial Arts stuff!

100 Layers Of Polish!?

Someone posted this 100 layer nail polish video the other day and I have to say. . .it was terribly entertaining.  I can’t say I watched it all the way through (I was doing other things as it played) but the parts that I did see had me chuckling for sure.

Simply Nailogical has a sense of humor, and apparently is up for a challenge (who would do this, you ask?  Well, she got a ton of requests so consider it incredible customer service?!)

There are Golden Graham and pizza cameos, since basically this took the entire day, along with humorous interruptions and hard-to-follow phone calls. She’s also a cat lover, so felines make random appearances. . .as do strange, horrifying, Sci-fi-like voice-overs (short but no less weird!)

She delves well into the night (past midnight as it turns out) layering on every polish she has there at her salon. . .and at the end, she gives you the satisfaction of peeling it all off.

So again, I didn’t necessarily sit and watch this through, but I laughed along with the commentary, and whatever portions I did see.  With the advent of YouTube you really can see everything…

“Beautifully Ever After”

I smiled when I saw this e-mail because I am actually planning my own wedding!  ❤

I feel blessed to have had a background in performance-based sports (figure skating, ballroom, ballet) because doing my own makeup was basically a pre-req.  Sure, you could pay to have someone do it but – trust me – those fees added up!  So, I learned to do it on my own!

Most ladies I know hire an artist for the wedding day – it’s a great way to limit stress (and time!) if you aren’t used to doing a more formal look, or if you just darn well don’t feel like it!

BUT…if you DO want to do your own makeup, Sephora has a fun little tutorial. . .

I love the idea that a bride is enhanced on her wedding day – not overdone, and not feeling like she is someone else!  A dear friend of mine was incredibly worried about that because she doesn’t wear makeup at all, EVER.  I assured her that very basic (and few) products would just bring out her features and natural beauty. . .without changing her dramatically, leaving her feeling too “out of her skin.”  You aren’t on a stage, so don’t worry about having to be heavy-handed – it isn’t necessary.

The lovely redhead in the e-mail Sephora sent looks adorable both ways (before AND after) – she doesn’t lose her charm or beauty, her features are simply highlighted so as to take a more prominent place on her day. 🙂  Love that.

Adele’s Cat Eye

I’m sharing this for two reasons…

1…the REMARKABLE ability for color cosmetics to transform the way a person looks.  It can literally go from waking you up…to adding a youthful glow…to creating a WHOLE other persona!

2…as a long-time performing athlete, this was a skill I needed to learn EARLY.  I’m blessed to say I will be getting married in October of this year and I am super fortunate that I have experience doing all this myself!!!  (That said tutorials are always fabulous refreshers! 😉 )

I know everyone loves videos and tutorials, and this was just a terrific little post from Beauty Chatter on Bloglovin (which, sadly, doesn’t support WordPress!)

Enjoy it! 🙂

Tarte Rainforest Of The Sea Aquacealer

It goes without saying that we all want clear, even, smooth skin…and some days, our epidermis (apparently on strike) isn’t…AT ALL…in accord.  The market is over-saturated with products, many of which are indeed “HG’s (holy grails.)  You may remember Tarte’s Rainforest Of The Sea water-based fluid foundation from August, 2015…well…

This new Rainforest Of The Sea Aquacealer is a super hydrating, full coverage, anti-aging concealing serum formulated with pigments suspended in a water / conditioning serum hybrid base.  It is “4 times lighter” than like products out there, another lovely benefit for those of us who want clear radiance without heavy weight. I usually opt for a tinted moisturizer designed with athletes in mind, as I want sheer, skin tone evening, and water resistant…but this looks pretty amazing (and it comes with a brush, which is always nice!)

At $29.50, it doesn’t seem “too much” given that it does rather a lot with just a tiny drop.  There’s a great video to go along with the description here, and worth watching for the before and afters.

Vogue’s 23 Best Looks From Paris Fashion Week – Video

I’m sharing this because it is totally worth doing so.

This well-put-together collection of video snippets highlighting “the best looks” from Paris Fashion Week is ADORABLE.  It’s fun, lighthearted, cheeky… I love how this was done, love seeing the models jam, and hope to see more of this from Vogue.com.

Just brilliant.
