Spring 2017 – Neutrogena Hydra Boost Color

The onset of winter often means a change in skincare for a lot of people – drier skin makes for a much more difficult canvas, especially on days you may (feel) you need coverage.

While Neutrogena’s Hydra Boost Makeup Collection is technically for Spring 2017, it’s a perfect time to launch because the colder months very likely require more nourishing formulas.

There are a few products in the lineup (serum, lip shine, cleanser, makeup, concealer, lip treatment) so if you tend towards dry skin to begin with, or you know colder air will require a tweak to your routine…they might be worth checking out.

Summer 2016 – Maybelline Glow Balm

So I bought something almost exactly like this…from Maybelline…on Sasa.com about three of four years ago.  Yep. That long. I’m a little surprised it has taken SO long to get this over here in the USA but…I guess finally is better than never?

I’m a huge Dior Balm fan – it’s the most  beautiful, perfect, pH transforming balm around.  But it’s also pretty steep in price – around $32 for one.  The fact that more versions are cropping up, especially at the mass market price points, is awesome.

BudgetBeautyBlog posted a bunch of Maybelline Summer photos here – definitely take a look – along with the closeup of this newbie, as above.  She plans to give it a whirl and post a review, so keep your eyes peeled if you are interested in this kind of thing.  If I spot it anywhere, I’ll snag one myself – a subtle, personalized pink tint is always super flattering…and, in a natural way.

Tendertalk pairs color with technology, for a personalized hue all your own.  I love that, as it reminds me of my favorite (Dior) balm.

“Awaken to a sweet new sensation: Tendertalk Lip Balm, a smart lip conditioner that creates a personalized tint based on your chemistry. Combining nourishing skincare and technology, this perfect lip transformer helps keep lips soft and moisturized while intuitively offering the right hint of color.”

Illamasqua Nail Veil

Nail “polishes” are no longer strictly about color – for a long time color cosmetics have been edging towards giving “more” than just a tint.  It is not a new concept that makeup doubles as skincare…but that nail polishes double as treatment hasn’t really been around as long.  It isn’t wholly novel, necessarily, but it hasn’t been as mainstream as it is these days.

I didn’t totally expect this from Illamasqua, but as off beat as they are, I guess I shouldn’t be bowled over!  I like that they are considering the impact of their products, and that they take them to another level entirely, not only giving a beautiful look, but also something body-loving (er…nail-loving, anyway!)

The Neil Veils are “water and oxygen permeable,” providing “anti-oxidant and anti-aging properties” in a super glossy, sheerly-tinted pastel polish.  Nice.  Colors include Bamboo and Breathe, pastel Orange and Pink, respectively.

These are subtle, offering a refined, pull-together look while also caring for your nails – as the warmer Spring and Summer months are upon us and we find our fingers and toes full-on exposed, this is a nice way to stay natural, but also groomed.

e.l.f. Essential Kiss

e.l.f. just came out with a new balm in four happy tints (which are, be forewarned, apparently in limited supply.  This reminds me a little bit of the Ambient Palette conundrum… You?)

  • Bare Kiss
  • Flirty & Perky Pink
  • XO Red
  • Berry Sweet

The e.l.f. Essential Lip Kiss Balm is infused with Vitamins A, E, Grape Seed Oil, & Jojoba Oil to help nourish and moisturize lips,” and has a mint flavor.

I’m not sure how these compare to the Maybelline Baby Lips, as yet…a product I ADORE.  I’m curious to see if they are more pigmented…and then there’s the thing about being mint flavored.  I always like cherry or berry of some kind.

For $2.00, though, you could literally buy all 4 and test them out for fun!

Just Browsing

How gorgeous is this Instagram photo from Clinique for the new Just Browsing Brush-On Styling Mousse tints?

The formula claims to have 24-hour wear – that would be amazing – that “tints, tames, and fills-in even the sparsest arches.”

Touching up brows CAN make a marked difference in how polished a look is.  When I competed in Ballroom, that’s when I really noticed it – it adds a subtle definition that helps to frame your eyes, making them do more of the “talking.” 🙂

The product comes in four water-resistant shades:

  • 01 Blonde
  • 02 Light Brown
  • 03 Deep Brown
  • 04 Black / Brown

Snag it now for $16.50 at Sephora or Clinique!

Jurlique Hydra-Gloss

These are adorable little lip oils – rather the trend in the last year or so – that claim to deeply nourish and protect the lips with a sheer, soft tint. Summer weather can cause as many drying issues as winter, with all the extra sun exposure, so always happy to learn about options!

The formula is available in two shades, I’m Blushing and I’m Neutral.  To my knowledge these aren’t new additions, but they are lovely – milky, pale shades for still-warm weather!

The product features:

  • Black Elder (for soothing and conditioning)
  • Birch Extract (for soothing and  an antioxidant boost)
  • Licorice Root (which offers hydration.)

There are no parabens, PEGs or artificial fragrances, which I’m not surprised about because Jurlique is exceptionally good about that!
