Remember that happiness is DIY – no circumstance (person, place, or thing) has a right to dim our shine. Our attitude matters, so keep it bright!
To face oneself head-on is to show true strength, for none of us shine without some darkness in the mix. To openly delve into our depths is to learn, to grow, and to better grasp the nature of Life. No man is without some sin or flaw, but if we can see our own shortcomings rightly, we are all the more able to accept, understand, even appreciate those around us – the battles are always raging, though often they are invisible to the outside eye.
There is no perfection among us, neither any living species. Perfection is an elusive and false idea that cannot be achieved nor, frankly, should it – without darkness, as they say . . .
Life molds us in such a way – through beauty and pain – but with gentle acknowledgement, and a lot of work, we can be better people each day.
The journey takes time – sometimes a life to its full. It takes failure, making mistakes, patience, forgiveness of ourselves and others, and willingness to learn. . .but it is possible not only to come out unscathed, but grateful, healthy, happy and wise in the end.
Ever building on the Touche Eclat empire, YSL will be launching the coveted glow-getting formula in a new format for Spring 2017. Yep, you guessed it…a cushion. LE Cushion, to be exact. 😉 The product will be offered in 7 shades designed to enhance radiance with natural coverage.
In addition to that exciting news, the Company is also brining in three Touch Eclat Glow Shots, a highlighter boasting the hefty promise of a 10-hour strobe effect AND ultra hydration, via hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and Ruscus. Glow Shots will come in 3 shades:
- No.1 Daylight – Create a reflective, mirror effect (light skin tones)
- No.2 Sunrise – Create a rosy glow (light skin tones)
- No.3 Sunset – Create a healthy glow (medium to dark skin tones)
And…one more dashing add…the YSL Touche Eclat White, Limited Edition. I’m already chomping at the bit for this one because a “porcelain effect” is like music to my goth-y ears… It can be used for adding a beautiful sheen, or for more extreme strobe and contour effects.
Wait…WHaAaaAT!? Where were THESE when I was competitively Ballroom Dancing, dang it?!
These are the PERFECT, iridescent light catchers (and I’m highly irritated that they’ve come out now…several years too late!) The names are as sassy as the shades, and I love that they (along with many other companies) are following suit of such brands as Colour Pop and showing swatches on a variety of skin tones. *LOVE*
FLUKE. . .
I can’t well wear them to the dojo (lest my partner’s gi light up like a Christmas ball) but…I hope other people indulge in the high-wattage glow!
The Diamond Crushers are meant to layer over lip color, but I’m sure you could use them on your own. You could also very likely get creative (because…why not?) and use them to reflect light to / from other areas. Eye gloss, anyone?
One of the most important things about color cosmetics for me – as an athlete (and once performing athlete in dance and figure skating – is the lasting power. I don’t wear much because fresh-faced and natural is so much more appealing to me. But when it is required to pull myself together, I still want something that will hold up – to humidity, sweat, heat, rain…whatever. Being a porcelain doll is lovely – but for me personally, having to worry about my face melting off is just not something I am willing to deal with.
I’m not sure this is a USA release, or whether it will be – no word of it ’round here. But thanks to ReallyRee, I caught wind of it, and felt the need to share for those of you who have also not seen it – in store or online. (There are other blog posts for sure, if you feel like snooping.)
This actually reminds me of a pot that L’Oreal had back in the early 90’s – I can’t remember the name of it but it felt like skincare, which totally appealed to me (even at an incredibly young, and non-makeup-wearing age.)
The Fresher Skin formula is humidity and sweat resistant, starts as water-gel, and transforms into a “refreshing cream,” a la many Japanese products before it. It doesn’t clog pores – another HUGE point for me, absorbs shine, and doesn’t settle into lines. It happens to look really nice on her skin – and she has other photos, so definitely check it out.
I’m a huge La Roche Posay fan – their products are great quality, and always manage to deliver. The Effaclar lineup is a hugely popular one, and has been since Effaclar Duo (specifically) launched about two and a half years ago. As an athlete, taking care of my skin is not only important, but imperative – rolling on sweaty mats means I have to take extra steps to keep my peau clear!
The newest addition (no launch date just yet!), Effaclar Duo Unifant, takes the anti-blemish technology and pairs it with mineral pigments to visibly even your skin tone and reduce redness, while going to work on potential blemishes AND letting your beauty show – nice.
The formula boasts a combination of:
- Niacinamide, an anti-inflammatory form of Vitamin B3
- LHA. a hydroxy acid (and Effaclar favorite) to aid in cell renewal
- Piroctone Olamine, which fights off bacteria
- Procerad helps to calm the kind of inflammation that allows dark spots to form
- Linoleum Acid, which regulates sebum
The product comes in only two shades for now – light and medium (my disappointment resides here, as I feel it is important to offer a deep, and ultra fair as well.) Overall, though, I love this brand, and I LOVE non-masklike products that let the best of your skin show through.
