Cant’ take the goth or vamp out of me, no matter which way you spin the world…
As evidenced by my Pinterest pages…
I don’t do Valentine’s Day. I think the only time I sent Valentines out was when I was in lower school (so that’s third grade and below), frankly under duress. There was candy involved, though, so I would generally get what remained – nice incentive at that age!
I just don’t think anyone should feel obligated to do something nice, let alone nice AND sappy, just because the calendar says so – therein lies my distaste for what it’s become.
Funnily enough, though, a Facebook memory popped up of this (incredibly rare form!) photo. It was taken many moons ago, rather in defiance of the 14th, and very much with a mocking tone.
I do have a lot of friends in pin-up and vintage automotive photography so it was equally a (positive, in this case, however) nod to them.
I guess we all have skeletons, right? With red heart-shaped glasses and red lipstick, in my case!
Lime Crime is known for their offbeat shades, and daring finishes…so really Halloween isn’t a stretch. Like, at all.
But I love that they make a point of the 31st all the same, and they they go “LE” (limited edition) in honor. “Bloodmoon”? I do! (Incidentally, I never – ever – wear lipstick. But…I bought it, because… #vamp #bloodmoon #batwings. ❤ )
It’s kind of hard to resist – the perfect blackened red, don’t you agree? Wicked is also spectacular, but I find it more a challenge to find the right dark blood red… Of course then I see Red Velvet and want that too… ❤
It’s perfect for leaving love notes, so I have an excuse to splurge. 😉 (Or at least that’s what my not-so-inner-also-outer Vamp says.)
If you are feeling angelic, you could always go “Moonstone” – fair to say they have all manner of “bold” covered…and in that shade, you wouldn’t be run of the mill “divine!”
I wish I wore lipstick because then I’d go all out poisonous!
I’m thankful, at least, other ladies boldly…flashing fiercely goth grins ‘ere they go…
I’ve always had an affinity for all things darkly-hued. I couldn’t even say why, save that there is a richness born of the depth of the color (or “absence” thereof) that woos my heart (and sight!)
I bought my mother a spectacular black pansy plant for Mother’s Day one year – nothing “morbid,” nor dreary about it! She was delighted knowing that those velvety black blooms with sunny centers and a burst of violet were my way of smiling at her each day. ❤
I also have a tradition of sending 50 Black Baccara roses to my parents for Halloween. This year, my wedding in on the 29th (as close to Hallows as I could manage!) but I will still be sending them their gloriously, decadently-hued blooms all the same!
“BLACK?!” people say? Well…not necessarily 100% pitch (there are some flower varieties that are pretty darn close, though!)…but very much “blackened” and beautiful most of the time.
There are countless varieties of black’ish blooms, and one day if I DO have a garden, I will endeavor to plant as many as I can. “Queen of the Night,” “Black Magic,” “Mystic Dreamer,” “Raven’s Wing”…for me, those names alone have me full swoon. Strange? Maybe…but we are all entitled! I love a brightly-colored bouquet as much as anyone, and in fact one of my favorite flowers are the Pascali rose – an angelically white bud, fresh as driven snow – that my mother planted in our garden in my honor as a child. My skating coach still calls me “Pascalli” and the memory of those striking, moonlit petals will be with for always.
Perhaps, then, I will add a Pascali plant…and some red varieties…since red is also a favored shade… Osiria, naturally, speaks to my Egyptian-Pagan-heart… ❤
And “Hearts” would work so nicely…
What would you plant in your garden…?
Right in time for those who celebrate Cher Cupidon’s Day…
Lime Crime is introducing three new shades in the True Love Collection inspired by…but of course…the luscious petals of roses:
The set is on sale for $44.00, currently (usually $60.00.) Personally, I think the colors are right on – vibrant, richly pigmented, and noteworthy. Happy, Happy to those with bold hearts! ❤
