Holiday 2016 – MAC Nutcracker Sweet

I’m a little bit partial to the Nutcracker because I grew up being classically trained – 10 years of ballet, and you’ll see ten years of the Nutcracker around the holidays…if not more (once a dancer, always a dancer.)  I desperately wanted to be in it, actually, and a friend and fellow dancer was – spectacular!

MAC is embracing the fun and festivities with a Holiday Nutcracker-inspired Collection – Sweet as can be.  For details, check out Chicprofile, who shares the full list of goodies, and a few more images. A little tricky to see all of the items clearly, given the bold pink patterning of dots and stripes but…anyway!  Personally, I love the Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Stormy Pink, a muted grey-purple hue.  I feel like it would add a barely-there depth (not a new shade, so much, but sometimes they aren’t!)

La Roche Posay – Effaclar Duo Unifant

I’m a huge La Roche Posay fan – their products are great quality, and always manage to deliver.  The Effaclar lineup is a hugely popular one, and has been since Effaclar Duo (specifically) launched about two and a half years ago.  As an athlete, taking care of my skin is not only important, but imperative – rolling on sweaty mats means I have to take extra steps to keep my peau clear!

The newest addition (no launch date just yet!), Effaclar Duo Unifant, takes the anti-blemish technology and pairs it with mineral pigments to visibly even your skin tone and reduce redness, while going to work on potential blemishes AND letting your beauty show – nice.

The formula boasts a combination of:

  • Niacinamide, an anti-inflammatory form of Vitamin B3
  • LHA. a hydroxy acid (and Effaclar favorite) to aid in cell renewal
  • Piroctone Olamine, which fights off bacteria
  • Procerad helps to calm the kind of inflammation that allows dark spots to form
  • Linoleum Acid, which regulates sebum

The product comes in only two shades for now – light and medium (my disappointment resides here, as I feel it is important to offer a deep, and ultra fair as well.)  Overall, though, I love this brand, and I LOVE non-masklike products that let the best of your skin show through.

The Color Corrective Trend Continues…

I feel like there is a literal ONSLAUGHT of these products (not to mention posts, articles, newsletters etc…)  I’m not exactly complaining – I learned how to utilize such “correctors” early on as a performing athlete, and they WORK – but it is somewhat a sensory overload situation at this point!

In any case, if you are interested in further expanding your arsenal of perfectors, Sephora has a brilliant selection of items to choose from!

Algenist has a new, concentrated liquid dropper formulation, which you can score a deluxe sample of at the moment…  (Dropper bottle foundations and serums are also (as no doubt you are aware) a major 2015 tail-end trend.)

Becca has four shades which appear more pigmented, and therefore much like the Kryolan or Ben Nye wheels I’d buy at Ricky’s New York back in my competitive dancing days…

Marc Jacobs has three swirled pop-up sticks, a fun take on the trend that I haven’t seen quite the likes of elsewhere.

Sephora has launched seven gel-serum correctors in a lip gloss style format, as has Urban Decay (who has five shades.)

YSL’s infamous Touch Eclat ALSO now comes in three corrective hues, which I have to say is pretty fabulous (the original is divine.)

Smashbox is offering a pencil in four color-fixing shades, which is great for easy application.  In line with uber-ease, Cover-FX has their own new stick for brightening (LOVE brightening!), thought it does also come in five other colors!

For those in love with powders, I adore the cute, loose pots from Besame, who have expanded one shade into five lovely tints…  Now if palettes are more your speed – having multiple colors in one place is often incredibly useful! – you might like Make Up Forever’s (which comes in five combinations), or the cheeky six-sampling from Benefit.

It’s rather a lot but I guess better to be able to choose from a larger variety depending on your own skin correcting needs!

Lime Crime True Love

Right in time for those who celebrate Cher Cupidon’s Day…

Lime Crime is introducing three new shades in the True Love Collection inspired by…but of course…the luscious petals of roses:

  • Cupid – soft petal pink
  • True Love – vibrant pinky red
  • Saint – deep cranberry red

The set is on sale for $44.00, currently (usually $60.00.)  Personally, I think the colors are right on – vibrant, richly pigmented, and noteworthy.  Happy, Happy to those with bold hearts! ❤

Touch In Sol Chroma Powder Tint

Seeing as I have an obsession with all thing Asian skincare and color… I happened to see that this brand is now being carried at Sephora.

This particular item, Touch In Sol Chroma Powder Lip Tint, while touted by the Company, is not yet online, but it should be coming shortly…

It isn’t quite a liquid lip product, so much as it is a powder that melts into the lips for a pigmented, long-wearing, moisturizing color – definitely an innovative formulation.

It’s tricky to track down online as of the moment, but this video at least gives a better visual in the way of color payoff etc.

Pat McGrath Phantom 002

I wrote about Pat McGrath’s first “Gold” Collection a while back.  Well she has come out with the second Collection, Phantom 002…and that too has already sold out.

At $240, that’s impressive…though it was also produced in a limited 1,200 units.

Per her site:

“A defiantly decadent 8-piece kit to create underground looks that span the decades. One illegally black liner and a multiuse eye gloss for the ultimate hardcore glamour. Four self-indulgent shades to metallicize your smokey eye. Give black a new life and blitz into the darkness.”

I keep thinking regal birds of paradise – peacock, firebird, golden eagle…

It feels to me like a cross between Studio 54 sequins and heavy metal…!

The kit contains:

  • Gold 002 pigment 0.14 oz
  • Blue 002 pigment 0.14 oz
  • Copper 002 pigment 0.14 oz
  • Fuchsia 002 eye blush 0.14 oz
  • Black 002 eye gloss 0.14 oz
  • Black Caviar gel liner 0.018 oz
  • Blender brush 002
  • Flat brush 002

It’s bold color with smoked edges, so prepare to party…and stun!

The No Glitter Glow

I am all about glowing, clean skin…  Makeup Artistry is something I loved from childhood not only because of the ingenuity and creativity, but because of the passion and skills behind it.  That said, I am not a really girly girl – I’m athletic, and a little bit edgy…and my preferred look is totally natural.  I don’t want to cover my skin, so much as just not look tired!  So products that are more sheer, natural, double as skincare…those are my favorite ones!

I love that the Perricone MD No Highlighter Highlighter is, according to reviews, lightweight, sheer and shimmerless.  That’s right…SHIMMERLESS!

Shimmer is great for a party, for dancing, for performing… But I don’t want to catch sunlight with any sparkles beyond those on my nails!  The idea is an ethereal, barely-there glow…that looks like healthy, flushed skin.

I’ve never been crazy about the repetitive names in this collection, but I LOVE the idea of products that are so natural, no one would be the wiser.  For me, that’s the ideal product – it manages to disappear after brightening.

This highlighter boosts radiance with light-reflecting pearlized pigments and a dose of vitamin C, helping to diffuse imperfections and pamper skin.

Sounds like a win-win to me!
