There’s something about this “Bokehful” filter that imbues “happiness”… I mean, it’s like jumping in a pool of happy, bright-light bubbles… (Which pretty much sums up how I feel about life!)
I was wearing my volunteer hoodie in this picture and that’s yet another aspect of living that feels so incredibly joyous and “right.” Sometimes we find passions later in the journey. . .
On the tougher days it’s especially important to find our “happy” filters – whatever they may be – because life isn’t always so peachy (and neither are we. I’m sure not all the time!)
Maybe it’s a cup of coffee, a love note, or a listening to the laugh of someone we love. Maybe it’s a call to an old friend, listening to your favorite song, or curling up in the arms of your best friend. Whatever those “happy” things are, keep them on tap for the rainy days.
If you find yourself in short supply? Take a quick picture and slap on a slew of glowing bubbles. If nothing else, it’s worth a smile to see yourself surrounded in so colorful an effervescence. It lifts the mood just looking at it! (“What if I’m frowning,” you say? All the better! The juxtaposition of a frown face with all that bubbling brilliance ups the humor quotient – laughing at the gloom is half the battle. DON’T underestimate simple tricks and tools!)
A bad-day band-aid? Maybe. But when you smile your brain actually begins to produce more of our “happiness” chemicals (hint: dopamine and serotonin?) so seriously…what’s the harm in that?
Um… N A D A !
I would be “that” dog in front. . . Never do quite work out the way you want it to, those group selfies!
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if – provided this situation actually occurred – that these words came out our cat’s mouth with a brutally sarcastic tone. But I also would expect a rescue to be followed up by some cherished object getting mauled by claws…
So probably, being a long-time cat guardian…I’m going to go ahead and say I’d NOT snap a photo before untangling…
Whether or not it’s the “right thing” to not want affirmations from others, I’d be lying if I said it didn’t matter to me – I’ve always valued language, and kind verbal expression, whether from friends, family, coaches, training partners, even a purr from the boys!
Words, to me, are a huge deal, and I will always take them at face value, even when also internalizing the context, the non verbal cues, and the motivations behind them.
Like this pup, a sweet word can really light up my day. This lil guy is precious all around so I’d be showering him with “you’re so adorable”s all the time. . .in which case we’d definitely have the “after” effect regularly. ❤
As for my Keku and Musashi…food (or specifically shrimp) seem to have more of an effect than my “gooooood boyyyy!”s! Can’t win ’em all!
I have an entire folder dedicated to the food photo bombs my husband has managed to pull off…
But…I wouldn’t have it any other way because we have SO much fun, and humor in Life and partnership is so integral.
Surround yourself with people who make you laugh, who pull you out of your comfort zone, your habits, yourself and your mind… Laugh and love, because Life is amazing when you inject a little fun.
Poached: difficult level = easy.
Anyone with “Eggs Benedict” can make them for you.
Hard Boiled: difficulty level = medium.
Most establishments have these already made for salads (easy) but it is possible (provided it is earlier in the day) to make hard-boiled eggs as well. Less concern with timing.
Medium Boiled: difficulty level = hard.
You’d think it wouldn’t be so dang difficult, but apparently IT IS. This is the way I like my eggs – so much so that it’s a default. About seven minutes give or take in already boiling water, and that’s it. Still…it’s a challenge.
Ninja Style: difficulty level = nigh impossible.
Downright sneaky little buggers (and dangerous) but the BEST preparation I know. Worth the struggle.

Sooooo…I’m not two, which Sherimiya’s (Sheri Chen) Happy Little Bento was for…
But. . .
This is kind of my ideal fruit salad.
Not going to lie…
RANDOM BLOG PANTHER!
Because black panthers are the most spectacular creatures on the planet, hello (and I not-so-secretly am jealous I’m not one myself!) 😉
I mean…just L O O K!
Nature is astounding.
PS…did you ever see that Geico panther ad? 🙂
This red-to-primarily-pink ombre is to die for. Now I know it won’t be out on the street necessarily, nor in a boardroom, nor office meeting… If it was, at least, in the latter two settings, there would be either beauty experts, fashion professionals, or performers involved!
When I was young, the pouring over fashion publications was done specifically because of this kind of imagery – it’s artwork. It is its own kind of outrageous. It’s bright, uplifting in color, expertly applied – makeup artistry takes a whole other level of skill and creativity, and I always appreciated that.
For me, the combination of colors, textures and finishes was utterly captivating – I couldn’t say why, beyond that it appeals to my very-visual way of assimilating information. But I loved it, and loved photography – composition, light and shadow play….all of it.
So here is this image, just floating in the ether… But it’s one striking enough to stop me so I stare for a moment and think “now that is divine!”
From the bordered-spray-paint quality, to the patent-leather gloss…to the faded, ghosted edge, I absolutely LOVE this photo. 🙂
