Technically this can go for anyone who’s stressed. But definitely if you’re active, you can appreciate the humor…
Simultaneous massage and acupuncture? Doubly brilliant. I may have to give it a go…!
This flies around the internet with complete abandon this time of year but…I have to share it anyway because of the sheer cuteness of the thing…
(Never mind my black cat fetish!)
More seasonal silliness...
Not 100% of the time. . .but happy suits me best so I definitely try. (The converse would be bad for EVERyone!)
My wedding is two days before Halloween, so this definitely does apply currently… 🙂
There might be some of conjuring going on during Samhain…veil is at its thinnest, after all. But I *hope* it’s of the POSITIVE kind…not so much in the way of welcoming demons (modern life has plenty of its own!)
If, on the other hand, one meant to call forth darker entities, only to whip up happy little lemons (because the cursive was too hard to read!)…well then…I’m okay with that!
Nothing wrong with a little sweet-tart, on Halloween or any other day!
I really can’t get enough of Halloween, and given that scents play an integral role in memories – creating and recalling – I have a deep-rooted love of fragrance, particularly the ones that center on this time of year.
I am, however, incredibly particular. Once upon a time I fell in love with Acqua Di Gio by Armani – when it was discontinued some 15 years after I discovered it, I was horribly distressed. Aqua was one of the very few fragrances that managed clean floral without the oft’ cloying aroma of the market majority – for me that was the ideal situation. When it faded into the historical, balmy tomes, I bowed out completely – I never was a perfume kind of girl, so the loss of the one I adored…singularly…was it for me.
I was always acutely aware of life’s redolence, though, whether nature-created, or the man-made kind, filling precious glass bottles to the brim with pale, watery hues. I still am keenly cognizant of them, though I’ve long given up purchasing any “Eau” for myself.
Still, I maintain a somewhat illimitable love of fragrance – the sense of smell is one that can (as aforementioned) move us quite deeply. What do I wear in this case? Dragon’s Blood. Only. By a very specific brand, I should add… My red vials are sacred in their own way, as my olfactory has associated the liquid resin with parts of my being, and my Life. It is fair to say, also, that it is MY scent – the oils and ph of our skin births a unique aroma all our own, no matter the formulation is the same. (It might be why a fragrance you LOVE smells divine freshly uncanted…and also on a friend of yours…but perhaps not on you so much.)
I fell in love with Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab many moons ago – during what you might call a personal journey (from which was born profound self-discovery.) The scent selection at the time was still rather substantial (though a meager cry from the current offerings!) and, what I loved most, highly uncommon. I bought more imps that I could have counted – so many that I had to have a bead container labeled with the letters of the alphabet to sort them!
Another site, while I am at it, whose oils I have purchased (and happily burned to enchant the air!) is Dark Candles – another site for those in love with Samhain, or vampish, um, everything…!
In any case, I recently saw this post from Musingsofamuse and it – of course – caught my attention. Best time of year and countless fragrances to seduce the senses (seasonally, or not!)
She posted about a brand I am unfamiliar with, Lathers & Lights – fair to say they are now on my radar. 🙂 The sheer plethora of scents – specifically allotted to October, and to Autumn itself – is MIND-blowing. I desperately want to read through them all right now but my eyes are starting to feel strained just from typing for so long! It really is amazing.
I’ll post a few screen shots below (not knowing whether they abandon ship later in the year) – it was rather a challenge to fit all of “HALLOWEEN” on my screen (huge it is!) but…I tried! You may not be able to make it out completely here, but just take in the size of the selection – if you are a lover of fragrance the way that I am (in an intensely, all-encompassing, sensorial way) and / or also enchanted by Halloween, it’s worth just knowing someone out there has an enormous offering for you.
Oh…and pumpkin scents? There are over 30!
Aaaannnd more stores with Halloween fronts… *grinning ear to ear*
In this case, incredibly innovative Halloween jazz! Etsy is one of my favorite online shops – I even bought things for my October wedding on here. The brilliant minds, ever creating curiosities and fun – it’s never ending. For this holiday in particular, you are guaranteed to find some specialty, unique stuff – costumes, accessories, decor…whatever!
Priceless…PS…that the suggested “favorites” and “you might also like” that Etsy shares with me always lean Halloween anyway… ❤
I’ve always had an affinity for all things darkly-hued. I couldn’t even say why, save that there is a richness born of the depth of the color (or “absence” thereof) that woos my heart (and sight!)
I bought my mother a spectacular black pansy plant for Mother’s Day one year – nothing “morbid,” nor dreary about it! She was delighted knowing that those velvety black blooms with sunny centers and a burst of violet were my way of smiling at her each day. ❤
I also have a tradition of sending 50 Black Baccara roses to my parents for Halloween. This year, my wedding in on the 29th (as close to Hallows as I could manage!) but I will still be sending them their gloriously, decadently-hued blooms all the same!
“BLACK?!” people say? Well…not necessarily 100% pitch (there are some flower varieties that are pretty darn close, though!)…but very much “blackened” and beautiful most of the time.
There are countless varieties of black’ish blooms, and one day if I DO have a garden, I will endeavor to plant as many as I can. “Queen of the Night,” “Black Magic,” “Mystic Dreamer,” “Raven’s Wing”…for me, those names alone have me full swoon. Strange? Maybe…but we are all entitled! I love a brightly-colored bouquet as much as anyone, and in fact one of my favorite flowers are the Pascali rose – an angelically white bud, fresh as driven snow – that my mother planted in our garden in my honor as a child. My skating coach still calls me “Pascalli” and the memory of those striking, moonlit petals will be with for always.
Perhaps, then, I will add a Pascali plant…and some red varieties…since red is also a favored shade… Osiria, naturally, speaks to my Egyptian-Pagan-heart… ❤
And “Hearts” would work so nicely…
What would you plant in your garden…?
