Nutrition – The Easy Way To Add Volume

I definitely need to eat “volume” – a small snack will never cut it for me, despite that I am constantly snagging something to munch on.  I need to feel satisfied not only because I don’t want to feel hungry, but because my body doesn’t react well without the appropriate, and fine-tuned, amount of fuel.

The easiest way to add volume – the most obvious, also, but for some reason not as often as looked to as you might expect – is to load up on veggies.  A few sites are good about recommending this simple, incredibly effective “trick” but I feel like people still neglect to use it.

One of my favorite recipes is an enormous sauté of vegetables and ground chicken – I use my Curtis Stone pans, with which I don’t need to use a stitch of oil.  (Yes, oil IS good for you, so a dash of olive isn’t the end of the world, but I try to be mindful, and not use it all the time if I don’t need to.)

I sauté diced onions for a few minutes so they brown, then I add in fresh mushrooms (and, often, peppers too – red, yellow, and orange preferably, since they are the sweetest!) I later add diced tomatoes to it to make kind of a “sauce” – one, mind you, that is more vegetables than sauce! In a separate pan, I sauté the chicken, with nothing more than himalayan pink salt and spices.

Separately, I steam – in a BPA free microwaveable container, of course! – diced (or pre-riced!) cauliflower.  If I don’t have pre-diced (sometimes it is hard to find), I steam cauliflower florets – when they are done, and nice and soft, I use a potato masher to make little “diced” or “riced” type pieces.  You can use a food processor to do the same thing – this just takes less time and clean up to use a masher. 🙂

I have everything going at the same time, and will reduce the “sauce” to a simmer if necessary.  Once the cauliflower is ready, I mix it – and the “sauce” – into the pan with the chicken. And that’s it!

It makes a HUGE amount a food, and because of the volume of vegetables, each serving is less calories than it would be with just chicken…not to mention, it lasts longer, so you get more meals out of it. 🙂

Autumn / Winter 2016 – Urban Decay

Not much about some of these Fall newbies from Urban Decay, but BudgetBeautyBlog (as above) shares some information for anyone who’s curious!  Products focus on skin and eyes…so far.

What I’m super keen on?  The waterproof factor – anything that can last through HIIT works for me!

Clinique Nude Foundation Stick

So I’m not crazy about the name – sorry – as it just sounds off.  Clinique Chubby in the Nude Foundation Stick is not yet available in the USA, but you can snag it on Canada’s Sephora site if you desperately want it now.  It should be coming to the States soon, however…

This format has been hugely popular lately, not only with concealers, but also with contouring products, lip and cheek products and highlighters.  No surprise it is extending into full foundations too – easy to use and easy to carry matters.

Per Sephora and Clinique:
This flexible foundation offers portable perfection from full-face coverage to bare-minimum touch-ups. Creamy, moisturizing, and oil-free, this foundation stick blends easily and builds from sheer to moderate coverage with a long-wearing, natural finish.

The shades offered include:

  • Alabaster
  • Ivory
  • Cream Chamois
  • Golden Neutral
  • Neutral
  • Vanilla
  • Beige
  • Golden
  • Amber
  • Clove

Winter 2015 / 2016 – Garnier

There are TONS of new products hitting mass market stores right now – I have seen some of these myself already.  In addition to the below, I also saw new haircare from Garnier – strengthening shampoo and conditioner, as well as a color treatment which I saw a photo of recently.  So more is definitely coming!

The below photos are all from BudgetBeautyBlog, so I am attributing them there – I always seem to forget my camera so many thanks for sharing your images online!  As I mentioned, I have only seen some of these products (such as the Micellar Water) so far, but they are rolling in steadily.  Some of what I am seeing reminds me of existing products in the existing Garner lineups, so I’m curious about how these are different.

The newbies, under the SkinActive umbrella, are:

  • Clearly Brighter Overnight Leave-On Peel
  • Clearly Brighter Dark Spot Corrector
  • Moisture Rescue Actively Hydrating Daily Lotion
  • Micella Cleansing Water (2 formulas)
  • Clean Purifying Cleansing Wipes
  • Clean Pore Purifying 2-in-1 Clay Cleanser and Mask
  • Clean Shine Control Cleansing Gel
  • Miracle Anti-Fatigue Wake-Up Hydra-Gel Moisturizer
  • Miracle Anti-Fatigue Sleeping Cream
  • Miracle Anti-Fatigue Eye Gel Cream

MUFE Ultra HD

Come September, Make Up Forever will add two new HD items to their roster – the Ultra HD Stick Foundation, and the Ultra HD Liquid Foundation.

How does it differ from the original HD Liquid that’s out?  The Ultra HD has been designed to work with the 4k technology that is (frighteningly) our ultra-up-close-and-personal reality.  No matter how magnified the resolution, the idea is that these new additions will look completely natural on camera, and to anyone who happens to be with you in person (which makes more sense for us non-silver-screen-imortals!)

The formulation is enhanced with the following (as per ChicProfile’s post)…

The Liquid will be offered in 40, medium-coverage shades….and the Stick will be offered in 15.

Much that I get excited about such things, ingredients and whether a formula is comedogenic matter to me…so I will keep my eyes peeled (“oil-free” doesn’t guarantee no issues, fyi!)

I recently got Innisfree’s Longwear Cushion and I’m loving so…I may not buy these right off the bat.  Not to say I don’t *want* to! 😉
