Summer 2016 – Estee Lauder Genuine Glow

More glow-getters on the horizon, this time from cosmetic giant, Estee Lauder.  Genuine Glow Summer 2016 Collection includes five super-star, radiance-delivering products:

What I love about these products is that they are ageless – they can work beautifully for someone in their 20’s as much as someone in her 50’s – they are designed to give a natural illumination to the complexion with subtle, flushed color.

There’s no over-doing here, no mask-like finish, or real ability to be too heavy-handed in the first place.  Hallelujah!

In my own mind the goal of any color cosmetic (shy of ballroom / skating / theater performance (etc) OR your wedding (mine’s soon! ❤ ) / night out (etc)) is to enhance.  Not hide.

Yes, you ARE gorgeous enough to go without makeup!  But for days when you might need an extra boost – just enough to give your bright eyes the spotlight (as opposed to sleepless undeyes or lackluster skin!) – these hydrating, priming, and brightening products can help.

Chicprofile shares more details here (haven’t seen all online as yet, but those with links are above. 🙂 )

Body Shop Instaglow CC

There really isn’t any let up on the “glow”-bestowing products of late, what with the surge of strobing, highlighting and contouring.

I’m not complaining, for sure – anything that boosts the “wakefulness” factor is a whole-heartedly embraced (rest assured!)

Maybe long work hours (or slow-poke coworkers!) are leaving your drained.  Maybe it’s a heavy, physically demanding training load during the week that’s left you exhausted.  Or perhaps it’s your newborn, or the obnoxiously loud neighbors next door… Whatever is robbing you of your precious shuteye might also be guilty of stealing the ever-coveted, fully-recharged radiance you get when you actually DO sleep…and stay stress-free.

Since the latter two conditions are sometimes tough to come by, the plethora of products out there that help us achieve a rested look are definitely appreciated.

The newest on the scene are The Body Shop’s Instaglow CC Creams (hit stores on May 17th overseas – not sure about USA as yet.)

Designed to even skin tone, temper shine, minimize pores, soothe (with Aloe Vera), moisturize (with Marula Oil, for a purported 24 hours) AND illuminate, these little guys pack quite a punch.  They also happen to boast an SPF of 20PA+++ (future signs of aging can take a hike, thanks.)

The shades include:

  • Bright Glow – Light skin, white pigment with purple pearl
  • Peachy Glow – Light to medium skin (might be nice for circles?)
  • Warm Glow – Dark skin, bronzed brown with golden pearl

ReallyRee did a great review and shared some nice swatches, so definitely check it out – what I like is that there doesn’t *seem* to be perceptible shimmer…  Glow sans glitter is the way I like to go, personally!

These aren’t meant to be full coverage by any stretch…but alone, or paired with other color cosmetics, these definitely appear to give you a boost…and who doesn’t love THAT idea?!  Not too many Body Shops near me but I will absolutely drop in and check them out when I come across one!

Le Frog Prince…

Lipstick Queen always pushes the envelope where traditional is concerned…  The Frog Prince range, which includes a lipstick and a lipgloss, is welcoming a newbie to the lineup, Frog Prince Blush.

That Frankenstein, froggy, swampy green seems unbecoming at first….but it has proven itself in other formulations to blossom into a delicious pink, fit for a princess.

The blush is designed to adapt to your skin’s unique pH, allowing for a budding rose shade most flattering on YOU to emerge.  Vitamin E combines with  shea butter, avocado oil, jojoba oil and olive oil to both nourish and moisturize your cheeks while you innocently flush.

Why do I love it?  It’s unconventional…and it comes out natural.

Peter Thomas Roth Dots

I couldn’t even begin to enumerate the full-on arsenal of products I have for breakouts!  As an athlete it can be extra work keeping pores clear (rolling on Martial Arts mats, sweating profusely, gym equipment…!)

While I haven’t tried this snazzy Acne-Clear Invisible Dot, I love the idea.  Lotions and potions can be incredibly drying, slippery, or flat-out “hi-I-have-a-pink-calamine-dot-on-my-face.”  Um…no good!

This lil’ sticker is easy to use, and loaded with some wonderful ingredients – not only are the components great solo, but here they are in combination in order to combat the multitude of troubles of the blemish itself….and the treatment of it (think: dry, red, irritated skin!)

Per Ulta:

Key Ingredients & Benefits:

  • 0.5% Salicylic Acid (OTC active level) – Active ingredient proven to treat active blemishes and prevent the formation of new breakouts.
  • Tea Tree Oil – An essential oil from an Australian plant has natural antimicrobial activity which can work on the skin-dwelling bacteria involved in the development of problem skin.
  • Hyaluronic Acid – A humectant, works to keep skin hydrated and can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water by pulling moisture from the air.
  • Volcanic Ash – A natural absorbent.

It looks like there are four sheets of 12 dots in the package, which makes the $30 price rage much more justifiable.  That said, I’d like to make sure the expiration date was a while out so I wasn’t wasting any if usage is infrequent.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil

I’m positively delighted that oils have gotten such generous praise over the last few years – gone are the days where those with troubled skin are destined to shy away from the nutrient-rich, hydrating and calming properties of oils!

It’s a wonderful thing, because there are countless benefits, not least of all that healthy, dewy glow many oils can give the skin (not in a sit-on-on-top-and-clog-my-precious-pores, greasy way- a legitimate, dew-kissed freshness that comes with youth…and absorbent, delectable oils!)

Using oils as primer before makeup is also nothing new – they’ve been doing it backstage at Runway shows for a long time.  But the general public may not have had many options in the past…in addition to harboring fears of makeup slipping and sliding off within minutes!  Jumping on board the benefits-of-oil train, Smashbox has just released a new primer oil.

Photo Finish Primer Oil is a “fast-absorbing, hero blend of 15 essential and lipid-rich plant oils,” designed to hydrate, soften, and glow-ify your skin.

Per Smashbox:

WHY IT’S UNIQUE
…This signature blend is the perfect fusion of 15 oils like jojoba, Arabica and Argan—all handpicked for their known skin benefits. To de-stress your morning routine, calming chamomile and lavender oils sooth senses while the light veil reduces the appearance of dry, fine lines and makes you glow. Add a drop to our Studio Skin foundation for a natural, second-skin look without sacrificing any coverage.

BRAGGING RIGHTS (I LOVE that terminology! 🙂 )
• Softens complexion to make foundation look like skin
• Instantly absorbs and adds radiance
• 15 essential and lipid-rich plant oils including moisturizing jojoba and calming chamomile
• Morning and evening application adds increased moisture in just 4 weeks
• Apply a few drops to split-ends, cuticles, elbows and clavicle for a dewy, youthful sheen.

I would say that if you are oily, you would want to try this on a day where it won’t matter much if it doesn’t work…or steer clear all together.  There ARE oils out there that can help to mattify, remarkably, as well as to tone acne-prone or troubled skin – so if this specific product doesn’t work for you, not to worry!

You can still use some nourishing oils at Night suited for your skin – hydrating and pampering when you are home can give you that same lovely glow in the even an oil primer feels too forward!

Kiko Milano Fusion Serums

Kiko Milano is rolling out three new, limited edition facial serums promising to hydrate, firm and brighten your peau:

  • Crystal Fusion
  • Nutri Fusion
  • Energy Fusion

I love the look of the bottles – since I have an arsenal of products, I often have several on my bathroom countertop.  These are picturesque enough to keep out! 🙂

I also love serums, though the texture isn’t for everyone.  The formulas contain such ingredients as hyaluronic acid, plant sugars and vitamin C and retail for $19 each.

Palmer’s Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil has definitely gotten some major praise over the last year or two, and has come to the forefront in all sorts of cosmetic products.  Palmer’s, who is known (I think it’s fair to say) for its Cocoa Butter formulas (I have some myself!) has recently posted some new products on its Instagram page, all made with Coconut Oil.

By the looks of it, there are four items in the lineup:

  • Body Lotion
  • Body Cream
  • Body Oil
  • Hand Cream

One of the things I have always liked about Palmer’s Cocoa Butter is the scent – it reminds me of baking! I’d be curious to see what these smell like – good coconut scent is delicious.

(There are, by the way, other Palmer’s Coconut Oil products out….but this does appear to be a new range all together!.)
