Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Exfoliating Peel Spray

I do my best to age as gracefully as possible – we are, of course, at the mercy of our genes to some extent, but there’s a lot to be said for being proactive.

I was fortunate that my mother always has a skincare “routine” – she never went to bed with makeup on, she always washed her face, she generally had more than one or two creams, serums, or oils that she’d apply. . .  I not only watched her, and the various steps she took to care for her skin, but I often asked questions and snooped around her products.

I was interested in skincare at a really young age, so that helped too.  It wasn’t about making myself “beautiful” per se, or thinking I could one day cheat the clock.  It was more about doing for my skin what I did for my body.  I exercised, I ate healthy foods, I tried to get a good amount of sleep… So why would I try to take care of all my organs and muscles and skip the outer layers?

My mother always said that there’s no sense trying to “cover up” – “starting with the right canvas,” she (rightly) advised, was vital.  Exfoliation, for one, is a great way to prep and smooth that canvas – it has to be done thoughtfully, of course, and without too much aggression (no one needs red, burned, or damaged skin!)  When done properly, you can revive and maintain a lit-from-within glow, and anything you care to put on top of it will both absorb better, and appear more seamless.

I recently read about Juice Beauty’s Stem Cellular Exfoliating Peel Spray – traditionally peels are applied with pads, from droppers, by dermatologists etc… .  But this is a little bit innovative in the sense that you can mist it on at home and have immediate results.

If you are using retinoid acid of any kind, or other AHAs or BHAs, you might want to avoid combining (as the review above, it can be a little (or a lot!) irritating.)  The spray does feature soothing additives in the way of aloe and cucumber, but it’s still possible to overdo.

I love the ease of this application of this skin-smoothing peel, and have heard a lot of great things about Juice Beauty over the years.  Eager to try it? Sounds like a wonderful addition to a skincare routine. and one I might check out myself!

L’Oreal Paris UV City Mist

So I’ve rambled on about sun protection before – it’s HUGELY important.  We generally don’t apply enough, nor as frequently as we should – I do wear SPF 30 on my face every day, but then there are hands, necks, ears, and other exposed areas that are forgotten about by most of us!

With that said, the easier to use, the better – I love mists for that reason, so this one – UV Perfect Aqua Essence City Mist SPF 50 – caught my eye.  L’Oreal has an incredible R&D team and definitely spends on getting products right – so they are a name I trust when it comes to skincare (including suncare.)

This particular product is designed to be ultra light, refreshing, and long-lasting (it says 12 hour UV protection but that feels like a generous statistic.)  The details, per L’Oreal, include:

  • 3 seconds spray-on
  • Can be applied over makeup
  • Sweatproof
  • Non-sticky
  • Non-greasy
  • Hydrates skin

I haven’t seen this in the States as yet, but it appears you can get it in the UK already!

Guerlain’s Bronze Goddess

Guerlain’s bronzers earned a place in the forever-cult product category many, many moons ago (the Company began all the way back in 1828, remarkably.)  Guerlain created Jambes de Gazelle, a bronzing cosmetic for the legs, in the days of World War II – the purpose was to give women who couldn’t afford to buy the real thing, the “look” of pantyhose.  Needless to say, it’s a concept that has spread far and wide over the generations – the number of bronzer products and formulations in the marketplace today is, frankly, astounding.

Spring is finally testing the waters these days, which means Summer is just around the corner…!  So, it’s the perfect time to snoop around for got-the-glow products, particularly as we understand the dangers of baking oneself in the sun far better than people did back in the 1800s (heck, even just a few decades ago!)  Guerlain has a quickie video on creating a healthy glow, showing you the “3” shape you may, or may not already know. 🙂

I love stores like Ricky’s NYC when I need more products (when DON’T I!?) because you can get just about anything there – there will be countless bronzers, self tanners, tan extenders, pre-bronze exfoliators, make no mistake.  That said...Guerlain has earned its rankings in the bronzing department, so it’s worth stopping by the counter, or in Sephora, to try a few swatches – they’ve got rather a lot of products to cover the look themselves!
