The Micellar craze is proliferating the cleansing market at the moment… No longer is there one, coveted Micellar Water that you have to track down on eBay from France, but now there are countless variations based on skin types, as well as wipes…and now a gel wash…
I mean…I’m not sure you need all of these but if you do like the idea of double cleansing, these are at least designed to be more gentle on the skin. I have a ton of steps in my own routine and I can definitely see it in my almost 39 year-old visage! Also, as an athlete, I appreciate making sure all the grime is off (not so much makeup, but good ol’ sweat!)
Garnier’s SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash comes in a mattifying version, and one for sensitive skin (I can’t quite make it out on beautybible’s page, but Yaalia.com has a review…)
These aren’t the same as the Cleansing Waters in the USA, and if you are a die-hard fan, you can snag it at Boots in the UK (or you might try eBay, which always seems to have the overseas goodies!)
Cleanliness isn’t necessarily godliness but…it certainly is appreciated by others AND by your skin. So long as you are gentle, a few steps in cleansing can be a wonderful thing…
Cleansing skin is one of the most important steps in a skincare routine…and the one that a lot of people flub. Regimes overseas (I live in the USA) has always captured my attention because they are often so impeccably executed. There are far more than one or two steps – which I’ve found is one too many for most – and it shows. A cleansing wipe works in a pinch but – hate to break it to you – is not necessarily getting much off your skin at night.
Cleansing waters have become more mainstream in our markets in the last two years or so (I say, hallelujah!) Most have been pretty basic in formulation – for dry skin, oily skin, maybe a waterproof remover. But until now we’ve not seen as many varieties (such as mattifying ones, for example.)
Well, Sephora decided to up the game and has released a line of four Micellar Cleansing Water & Milks each catering to a different skin type.
Rose Micellar Cleansing Milk: Smooth and silky, this cleanser is also ultra-moisturizing and Brightening.
Coconut Water Micellar Cleansing Milk: This smooth cleanser soothes and relaxes the complexion.
Green Tea Micellar Cleansing Water: This light and refreshing cleanser mattifies and fights blemishes without the use of harsh ingredients.
In a use test on 30 volunteers after the 1st use:
– 90% said that the micellar cleansing water efficiently cleanses the face and eyes
– 97% said that skin is mattified
Charcoal Micellar Cleansing Water: Purifies and detoxifies leaving skin feeling fresh.
In a use test on 32 volunteers after the 1st use:
– 91% said that the micellar cleansing water efficiently cleanses the face and eyes
– 94% of women said that the micellar cleansing water detoxifies skin
A few bloggers (here’s one, and another) have posted with new items that have already rolled into mass market stores – L’oreal, Garnier, Revlon among them.
I basically own an arsenal of products for my sometimes-temperamental skin but I’m always curious to see the new innovations and formulas – sometimes it’s worth switching if you aren’t getting everything you need for your skincare. I feel like newness always includes “multi-tasking” – products are no longer just targeting one problem, but often multiple. Doubtless there is SOMEthing for you!
Garner has a new edition to the Micellar Water lineup – SkinActive Oil Infused Micellar Water. The newbie is specifically designed with dry and sensitive skin in mind, which I was thrilled to see!
It is a no-rinse “water” infused with Argan Oil, a bit of a new twist in comparison to many others out there. The product cleanses the skin of impurities and all the layers you might have applied in the morning (including waterproof makeup) without being greasy or irritating to skin or eyes.
Cleansing our skin is HUGELY important, so I don’t mind the extra step – I personally don’t use Micellar Waters solo though because, as an athlete, I am sweating and on mats a lot. I like to be more traditional and wash my face with a cleanser and water (I’ve also used a Clarisonic for years, which I love.)
If you have found the other Waters to be either too drying, too irritating, or just not gentle and hydrating enough, this option might be worth checking out! I haven’t seen it in the USA as yet, but it is on Boots online, as above. Interested in trying this..?
There are TONS of new products hitting mass market stores right now – I have seen some of these myself already. In addition to the below, I also saw new haircare from Garnier – strengthening shampoo and conditioner, as well as a color treatment which I saw a photo of recently. So more is definitely coming!
The below photos are all from BudgetBeautyBlog, so I am attributing them there – I always seem to forget my camera so many thanks for sharing your images online! As I mentioned, I have only seen some of these products (such as the Micellar Water) so far, but they are rolling in steadily. Some of what I am seeing reminds me of existing products in the existing Garner lineups, so I’m curious about how these are different.
