I guess they’re still on the contour kick, along with a whole lot of shading (and fading)…
Still a fan of the trend? Apparently it’s going strong backstage – and in Asia (not surprisingly, since they tend to be ahead of the times.)

I’m sure it’s clear from my countless posts that I’m one of those lip balm types. I don’t like heavy color, and I LOVE flavor! (I’m basically a kid in a 38 + year-old form. 😉 )
Revlon has a bunch of items coming out (some already seen in-store) – Nouveaucheap shares a selection of images on her blog, so allow me to share for those of you interested in newness.
I’m not sure if these are really pigmented or what (my favorite “type” is always PH, self-adjusting…like Dior or the new BabyLips from Maybelline.) Still, they’re named with flavors so I hope they are delicious!
I very distinctly remember – in my many years of Fashion – when “camo” would come back “in season.” It was never just about the print, mind you, but the colors themselves – you couldn’t go to a fabric or leather show with seeing a proliferation of khakis, olives, sandy browns…
I follow the Runways (a lot) less these days – at the time, it was a huge chunk of my job! But, when you see posts about cosmetic companies backing a certain hue, you can be sure you will be seeing it in everything from handbags to shoes, to apparel. So embrace your badassery and get to this borderline-grunge, sooty but sexy shade. It definitely will work for green and hazel eyes, but give is a shot – for a variation on smokey – no matter the color of your eyes.
There are LOTS of other products coming out as well from this brand, so be sure to check out Nouveaucheap’s post for pictures and descriptions! It isn’t JUST about the camo khaki for sure…
New jazz from Maybelline that wasn’t supposed to be out quite yet…but that IS. Ballroom dancers rejoice – less need to wear the falsies (which I couldn’t STAND!)
The Falsies Push Up Angel Mascara promises to sweep your flutter to the side, giving a lifted, winged effect – how pinup and fabulous!
Maybelline’s Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer is hopping on the heels of the brow building trend, not only adding color, but filling out sparse areas with its fiber-infused gel formula.
Sharing Budgetbeautyblog’s post for anyone eager to see up and coming newbies!
So I bought something almost exactly like this…from Maybelline…on Sasa.com about three of four years ago. Yep. That long. I’m a little surprised it has taken SO long to get this over here in the USA but…I guess finally is better than never?
I’m a huge Dior Balm fan – it’s the most beautiful, perfect, pH transforming balm around. But it’s also pretty steep in price – around $32 for one. The fact that more versions are cropping up, especially at the mass market price points, is awesome.
BudgetBeautyBlog posted a bunch of Maybelline Summer photos here – definitely take a look – along with the closeup of this newbie, as above. She plans to give it a whirl and post a review, so keep your eyes peeled if you are interested in this kind of thing. If I spot it anywhere, I’ll snag one myself – a subtle, personalized pink tint is always super flattering…and, in a natural way.
I’ve only seen this new Bronzer here, and here, so I’m guessing it isn’t coming to the USA right away (usually we have a lag!) That said, it is very much a summer offering, so we shall see.
I can’t say I’m incredibly surprised by a palette bronzer, per say…or by the “bricks” concept, which Bobbi Brown and others have done for both bronzing and highlighting products. But it is kind of a new format for Maybelline, so it’s fun to see.
The bronzer pairs matte and shimmer “bricks” for a tan that doesn’t go flat. Britishbeautyblogger has posted her comments and more images, including swatches, so definitely take a peek.
I’m a balm kind of girl and Baby Lips in Cherry is one of my go-tos. I’ve sort of stuck with that flavor (and tint), but it’s always fun to see new ones come out!
The most recent are the Pop Art Collection – three shades, and so far I only see them overseas (I’m in the USA.) Flavors include:
As with all Baby Lips, these offer 8 hours of hydration and a barely-there hint of color. I haven’t found the flavor to be overwhelmingly noticeable – or sweet (which actually, I love about Smackers! 🙂 ) – but it isn’t unpleasant at all. I’m curious to hear whether these are more pronounced…
Baby Lips fan?
Just sharing – I’ve seen a few posts here and there, but in Nouveau Cheap’s, you can see all of them. As from that second link, they are on Amazon if you want early dibs!
I feel like everywhere I turn these days, there is a new version of a contour product or palette out… Maybelline will be coming out with yet another one themselves – called the Master Contour V Shape Duo Stick, the uber-chubby stick is meant to make your Life easier as far as your shading goes.
As I looked at the image, I have to say I wasn’t convinced it would necessarily be easier – awesome that to shades are combined but in my experience, dual-sided shades, paired flush together as these are, tend to blend without you intending to mix them!
Interestingly, BritishBeautyBlogger agreed, so do read her review if you are interested (link as above.) What do you think about the double-sided sticks?
