Winter – 2016 MAC Retro Matte

MAC lines up the launches like nobody’s business!  In January, (11th) 2016, the company will be launching Retro Matte Lipcolors.  Having been exposed to the Hot Rod arena for some years, I have a TON of friends this reminds me of – the scene is saturated with gorgeous pinup gals, and dapper dandies.  The Retro Matte Collection definitely has that vintage flavor (the ad image with pea green playing cards and oversized sunglass frames help!)

Winter 2016 – MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour

Per MAC:

For those who prefer timeless glamour to all-out flash, matte reigns supreme. M∙A∙C has created an innovation on this classic texture with 15 robustly saturated shades of Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour. Whether you choose the intense fire truck red of Fashion Legacy, the vivid fuchsia of Tailored to Tease or the tantalizing nude of Lady-Be-Good, all these lipcolours promise one thing: a big splash of colour in a liquid-suede finish that transforms lips instantly and lingers, impossible to forget.

The product will sell for $20.00 (USA) and will include the following colors:

  • Fashion Legacy Intense fire truck red
  • Feels So Grand Deep true red

The colors look bright in the photo, and it does indicated “saturated,” so I’m curious to see swatches.  Loving the nude, peachy tones!

MAC Matchmaster Shade Intelligence Compact Foundation

MAC’s new Foundation is available on the MAC website, and will be rolling out shortly to stores (December 26th.)  Per the site, this product is intended to be imperceptible, and as real as an individual’s skin tone.  It looks a lot like the cushion foundations that have been emerging (taking a cue from Asian products still – love it! 🙂 )

“Its innovative cushion and sheer liquid formula lends true-to-life shade perfection and coverage, while letting your natural skin show through. A cutting-edge delivery system allows the formula to be released in a superfine layer, providing a natural finish and sheer to medium buildable coverage. Launching with a spectrum of 12 light to deep dark shades, and debuting with the new 197SH Duo Fibre Square Brush and Matchmaster Concealer.”

I’m not 100% sure if this comes with a sponge, but the duo-fiber brush (MAC 197SH) is available for $35 if you want the extra tool for the kit. It’s a nice, squared off shape that can navigate around the face for seamless coverage.

Paint It Black

I happened across this Black-Friday-Inspired post and had to share.  I used to get asked – during my more outwardly Goth days – “do you own black lipstick!?”…in a tone as if to insult or hit a nerve.  “Well, no…but I do have black lipgloss to match my nail polish…”

I never did understand why that was intended to get me riled up – while I wasn’t darkening my lips to match the Nighttime sky, I didn’t think it was at all unattractive…so the question scarcely skimmed my surface.  Wearable?  Not unless you don’t mind the attention.  But chic?  Why not?!

For shoots in particular, it works beautifully.  I can’t say I’ve seen it in the street much, though if I did I’d think “way to go, sass!” in appreciation of that individual’s hutzpah!

Anyway, I loved the images in this post, and thought some of the blacks were quite divine.  Black is incredibly gorgeous to me in general, as colors…or absence of color goes.

My personal favorites posted? The Illamasqua Pristine is gorgeous with its warmer, blackened-berry tinge…  And MAC’s Black Knight, for it’s brooding, warm-velvet opacity.

Traffic-halting and deviantly dynamite, all around.

Holiday 2015 – MAC Hugs & Kisses

Cher Cupidon…?  This feels so Valentines to me.  Am I crazy?

Holiday 2015 - MAC Hugs & Kisses

Holiday 2015 – MAC Hugs & Kisses

Per MAC:

M·A·C Huggable Lipcolour is now in more shades than ever and here to stay. Cuddle up with this comforting, creamy formula in 15 hues that remain luminous for up to six hours. Best of all, we’re also introducing Huggable Glass, caressing lips with smooth colour and shine thanks to a new dual-phase formula.

The Lipcolor, launching December 26th, is a “Gel-like lipstick with rich, glossy shine and a feather-light finish that lasts up to six hours.”  It sounds like a cross between a lollipop and a popstar photo shoot.  Colors will include:

I really like the range of shades, feeling that they’ve covered a solid gamut.  The Huggable Glasses are a bit more upbeat, lighthearted and Spring in flavor, while the Lipcolor has a more sophisticated-but-fun overtone (in my opinion.)

MAC x Susanne Bartsch Collection

I have to be honest here…I had NO idea who this was!  But I LOVE MAC and I love their ever-interesting collaborations. After having read the below, it made perfect sense that I didn’t know who this was – I’m admittedly far out of reach of the celebrity scene.

“Since the 1980s, famed nightlife icon Susanne Bartsch has been known for her elaborate, outlandish and extraordinary fêtes for designers, celebrities and partygoers alike. Three decades later, her events continue to attract New York’s beautiful, strange and eccentric. Now, a collaboration that harnesses the unique world of Bartsch into two fantastical false lashes.”

Falsies and extensions have DEFINITELY picked up steam over the last decade – certainly they were out there but having been a competitive Ballroom dancer for many years during the last decade…it’s fair to say they were not as easy to come by in stores!

MAC x Susanne Bartsch Collection

There is nothing really mild-mannered about these – those who do buy them are likely among the fearless stand-out types (which doesn’t mean if you aren’t that way, there is anything wrong with that!  I’m not sure I could manage these even ON the Ballroom floor where false lashes are so common they are almost a pre-req!)  Given who these are in collaboration with, though, I’d expect nothing less!

The two limited edition lashes are as follows:

MAC Curlicue Lash – $75.00: Swirling and “girly” retro lashes.

MAC On Top Lash  – $75.00: “Wispy waterfall”-look lashes.

MAC Dark Desires

This Collection has gotten lost of coverage already, but it is available beginning today if you are interested in snagging any of the items!  As far as I’m concerned, the inky, vamptastic, night-crawler coloring is DIVINE! ❤ So says the Goth in me!

Per the site:

Bathed in black, fuelled by desire, rich colours simmer in their darkest tones. As night falls, sinfully succulent lips, sultry stares and ebonized nails emerge from the evening’s depths. Uncover the shameless indulgence of Into The Well Eye Shadow’s pure matte pigments – a pressed powder eye shadow/eye liner that’s as sensuous as velvet. An indentation in the middle of the pan can hold a drop or two of water, creating an inky shade lasting well into the morning hours. Bad never felt so good.

How do you not love that?!  Soooo Edgar Allen Poe and late October… ❤

The Collection includes the following (thanks to ChicProfile for the full list):

Lipstick

  • Black Knight – Black with Red & Gold Pearl (Cremesheen)
  • Boyfriend Stealer – Blackened Plum (Cremesheen)
  • Heavy Petting – Burgundy (Cremesheen)

Winter 2015 – MAC Maximized

Launching on December 1st, 2015, this small Winter 2015 “Collection” from MAC promises to give you fuller, longer, and more lush lashes – that’s a nice Xmas present!

The False Lashes Maximizer, the first of two products, is a priming treatment meant to be put on before mascara to wrap and nourish lashes prior to color.  It acts as a primer as much here as one would for shadow, keeping the black rich and intense all day.

The second product is the False Lashes Extreme Black Mascara, a glossy black coat to emphasize and enhance your already-gorgeous eyes…
