Hourglass Ambient Lighting Correcting Primer – Update

I wrote about this branch-off product from Hourglass, the Ambient Correcting Primers, but we hadn’t seen too much detail at the time…

Beautizine posted a lovely review for those who have been awaiting swatches.

They should be available soon from Sephora (middle of April) so keep your eyes peeled!

BareMinerals Light Dimensional Translucent Duo

So this cutie little pair – BareMinerals Light Dimensional Translucent Powder Duo –  reminds me a lot of Hourglass and Elf’s Ambient Powders.  What I love about this one, though, is that one half is intended to remove the not-so-great-glow, while the other is designed to promote an ethereal one.  Double trouble – I like it.

The baked, “luxurious” powders are made to vanish on all skin tones, while at the same time blurring imperfections and adding luminosity.  As an athlete, having two products in one is super helpful, but also I love that these are designed to be imperceptible – they create a healthy, happy complexion withOUT being overbearing – win!

The “Matte” side helps to absorb oil (which often leaves a less than desirable greasy sheen), while “Glow” provides a rose-gold-infused highlight for any area you want to add a bit-o-strobe.

The brush is uniquely dual sided, allowing for the best application while removing oil, and adding your gleam – pretty snazzy, if you ask me! 🙂

This “set” includes:

  • 0.31-oz Invisible Light Transulcent Powder Duo
  • Dual Finish Blush & Contour Brush

It is currently on sale for $36.36 (not sure how long that goes!)

Spring / Summer 2016 – MAC Future

This is a SHARE of two posts…

I saw PerilouslyPale post some great photos of this up and coming Spring 2016 Collection, as well as ChicProfile, and wanted to pass them on! 🙂  MAC has been a long time favorite with my background in Ballroom Dancing, Ballet, and Figure Skating – their products ALWAYS perform as hard as we do, and the pigment stays true! (Impressive!)

Becca Luminous…Continued

It’s hard not to know about Becca’s original Shimmering Skin Perfector – I feel like it made a thousand cameos in articles about highlighting and strobing in the last few months.  I’ll be honest, though…I’m  not a fan.

Yes, of course I LOVE the idea of ethereal, glowing dewiness…  But shimmer?  I’ve moved on.

It isn’t that I don’t love shimmer and glitter also, for the right event or performance (the latter which goes without saying)…  But at nearly 38, I really don’t want it on my face anymore.  (I may well have it on my nails for moons to come…but I feel like I can get away with that a little bit easier.)

Despite my personal dislike, the product does have a wide following…and often five-stars on sites.  If you don’t mind glinting in the sun a bit, it is a lovely wash of radiance, and wears (as I understand) quite well.  Hopping on the coattails of that success, the Company is now offering a Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blush.

I adore the word “luminous” so of course I checked it out…  The six shades being offered are:

  • Snapdragon (coral)
  • Tigerlily (tangerine)
  • Blushed Copper (copper)
  • Camellia (ballerina pink)
  • Foxglove (orchid)
  • Dahlia (cabernet)

The first two can be purchased using the link above, and the others will be available April 7th, on Sephora, and on Becca’s website.

I think I will wait to see swatches, and read descriptions before making a full judgment (it’s only fair) but I am thrilled that “luminosity” has become such a thing.  What makes it better is when a subtle flush of color is added – the two in combination are a surefire way to get to “youthful radiance”…and I’m all for that.

Still, I’d like it to be as natural and shimmer-free as possible.  As an athlete and woman who prefers to enhance just barely, it’s important to me not to drown out in a sea of sparkle.  Curious to see what these end up looking like on the skin!

The Color Corrective Trend Continues…

I feel like there is a literal ONSLAUGHT of these products (not to mention posts, articles, newsletters etc…)  I’m not exactly complaining – I learned how to utilize such “correctors” early on as a performing athlete, and they WORK – but it is somewhat a sensory overload situation at this point!

In any case, if you are interested in further expanding your arsenal of perfectors, Sephora has a brilliant selection of items to choose from!

Algenist has a new, concentrated liquid dropper formulation, which you can score a deluxe sample of at the moment…  (Dropper bottle foundations and serums are also (as no doubt you are aware) a major 2015 tail-end trend.)

Becca has four shades which appear more pigmented, and therefore much like the Kryolan or Ben Nye wheels I’d buy at Ricky’s New York back in my competitive dancing days…

Marc Jacobs has three swirled pop-up sticks, a fun take on the trend that I haven’t seen quite the likes of elsewhere.

Sephora has launched seven gel-serum correctors in a lip gloss style format, as has Urban Decay (who has five shades.)

YSL’s infamous Touch Eclat ALSO now comes in three corrective hues, which I have to say is pretty fabulous (the original is divine.)

Smashbox is offering a pencil in four color-fixing shades, which is great for easy application.  In line with uber-ease, Cover-FX has their own new stick for brightening (LOVE brightening!), thought it does also come in five other colors!

For those in love with powders, I adore the cute, loose pots from Besame, who have expanded one shade into five lovely tints…  Now if palettes are more your speed – having multiple colors in one place is often incredibly useful! – you might like Make Up Forever’s (which comes in five combinations), or the cheeky six-sampling from Benefit.

It’s rather a lot but I guess better to be able to choose from a larger variety depending on your own skin correcting needs!

Spring 2016 – Bobbi Brown Skin Nourishing Glow

Bobbi Brown’s Bobbi Brown Skin Nourishing Glow Foundation will be launching during the end of 2015, and in the first two months of 2016 – in December, it rolls out to Japan.  In January, the USA, and in February, Europe.

The product is a “hybrid cream foundation” designed for dry and  normal skin types – it is both emollient and lightweight, and promises to diminish lines and wrinkles, as well as leave you luminous.

Apparently it also manages to give a firmer, lifted look, and promote natural collagen by way of “six unique peptides technology.”

The finish is soft matte, and skin is left soothes and moisturized – that’s a lovely combination, if you ask me!

Holiday 2015 – Lipstick Queen

Lipstick Queen has two sets for Holiday 2015!  Yippee, Lippie!

The first, Lip Parade, includes an iconic red, a sheer wine and a mesmerizing metallic nude,” for a sassy group of three:

– Saint Wine
– Red Sinner
– Nude Metal

The Ice Queen Duo, per the site, includes two perfect pairings: “Ice Queen, the original lip illuminator, and velvety Wine Sinner, a creamily comfortable matte. Worn alone, each lipstick is nothing short of magical but together, your lips are drenched in seductive claret with a luminous kiss of shimmering stardust.”

– Wine Sinner

I feel like the packaging really conveys the Autumnal and Wintery spirit… The colors feel very fitting, as well.  Love it, Lipstick Queen!

Christmas / Holiday 2015 – Chanel Rouge Noir Absolument

Chanel Rouge Noir Absolument is, I have to say, pretty spectacular.  It’s vampy and glam at the same time… ❤  Oh, la la!

A bunch of ladies have posted their own swatches online…which I always love to see.  Thank you to all who shared!

Holiday 2015 – Armani Luxe Is More

I love the ad image for the Holiday 2015 Luxe Is More Collection from Armani – it evokes precisely what the  Company was aiming for with these products, all of which are meant to pay tribute to the film sirens of the 1930s and 1940s.

Armani Holiday 2015

Armani Holiday 2015

Lips are the most focused-on area of this inherently glamorous look. Eyes are second with sultry definition…but not overpowering… And the canvas, of course, is clear, flawless, polished skin.

L’Oreal Lumi Cushion

There are a few posts about this…and the suggestion it *might* come to the USA (that would be tremendous!  Not that I NEED anything else, but why not HAVE it! 😉 )

L’oreal’s Lumi Cushion is launching in Canada in January 2016 with a price tag – $29.99 CAN – that feels steep for their generally more affordably-priced color cosmetic products.

The word is that the Lumi Cushion aims for a “natural, luminous and air-light coverage” – barely-there is always a plus, provided whatever specialty particles (aren’t they always specialty particles!?) can cover and correct.  Most formulations these days manage to do both – give flawless coverage, with an extremely light feel.

Lumi Cushion also boasts a purportedly high water content, which always gives a nod to the “hydration” direction (great for Autumn and Winter!)

So again…not sure about the USA, but it’s a possibility.  If it is well-received, I’d imagine we will be seeing it.  If not…eBay! 😉  Wait…did I say that?!
