Rimmel In-Shower Tan

When Spring arrives, so do all the new tanning products generally – I’ve definitely seen them taking a front seat in stores lately, but I haven’t seen this in-store quite yet.  You can, however, get it at Boots online (link with the photo.)

Rimmel’s In-Shower Tan is taking a nod from a few other high-end tanner brands, who offer something akin to the in-shower moisturizers of the last year or two.  The idea is that you can apply while taking a shower, only to be left with a several-day bronze glow…and a few more minutes in the day (since you could do this during your usual routine.)

The Rimmel product is a “1 minute express” lotion designed to deliver a sunkissed glow within just a few hours. It’s streak-free, faux-tan-scent-free (that’s always nice!) and buildable.

The reviews didn’t look stellar, but I came across ReallyRee’s thoughts on the rinse-off and she seemed to enjoy it.  And anyway, it IS safer than baking too long in the sun!

Winter 2015 / 2016 – Garnier

There are TONS of new products hitting mass market stores right now – I have seen some of these myself already.  In addition to the below, I also saw new haircare from Garnier – strengthening shampoo and conditioner, as well as a color treatment which I saw a photo of recently.  So more is definitely coming!

The below photos are all from BudgetBeautyBlog, so I am attributing them there – I always seem to forget my camera so many thanks for sharing your images online!  As I mentioned, I have only seen some of these products (such as the Micellar Water) so far, but they are rolling in steadily.  Some of what I am seeing reminds me of existing products in the existing Garner lineups, so I’m curious about how these are different.

The newbies, under the SkinActive umbrella, are:

  • Clearly Brighter Overnight Leave-On Peel
  • Clearly Brighter Dark Spot Corrector
  • Moisture Rescue Actively Hydrating Daily Lotion
  • Micella Cleansing Water (2 formulas)
  • Clean Purifying Cleansing Wipes
  • Clean Pore Purifying 2-in-1 Clay Cleanser and Mask
  • Clean Shine Control Cleansing Gel
  • Miracle Anti-Fatigue Wake-Up Hydra-Gel Moisturizer
  • Miracle Anti-Fatigue Sleeping Cream
  • Miracle Anti-Fatigue Eye Gel Cream

Sublime Bronze Summer Express

Sharing a link to a post about the new Sublime Bronze Wash-Off Cream Bronzers that have apparently been spotted already – way too early for summer, but then some do worry about the wintery pallor that comes with colder months!  Thanks to Nouveaucheap and @yvonne121780 for Nouveau Cheap for these images and info!

The Face Bronzer has Broad Spectrum protection, and a matte, weightless finish…

The Wash-Off Body Makeup Lotion (is this as step further than the Jergens BB, I wonder??) claims to blur imperfections, stay streak free while providing 24 hour hydration.

Palmer’s Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil has definitely gotten some major praise over the last year or two, and has come to the forefront in all sorts of cosmetic products.  Palmer’s, who is known (I think it’s fair to say) for its Cocoa Butter formulas (I have some myself!) has recently posted some new products on its Instagram page, all made with Coconut Oil.

By the looks of it, there are four items in the lineup:

  • Body Lotion
  • Body Cream
  • Body Oil
  • Hand Cream

One of the things I have always liked about Palmer’s Cocoa Butter is the scent – it reminds me of baking! I’d be curious to see what these smell like – good coconut scent is delicious.

(There are, by the way, other Palmer’s Coconut Oil products out….but this does appear to be a new range all together!.)

Demystifying Asian Skincare

There is a lot of confusion out there as other cultures’ terms and products have been blended with those of our own home countries.  It’s difficult to breakdown all the terms – emulsion vs essence vs toner vs serum…  But a couple of folks have endeavored to demystify the words we see on the bottles!

Here are a couple of sites for reference in case you are having the same issue of trying to figure out what’s what! (You aren’t alone! Keep in mind that there may be some differences in descriptions, but it’s a starting point for sure! 🙂

Olay Snow Mushroom

Growing up I always heard how amazing Olay was – nearly everyone, it seemed, used the Active Hydrating Fluid!  I have had a few of their products over the years, and while they haven’t remained my absolute go-tos, I have never been terribly disappointed, finding that the formulas are good overall.

The newest Olay Active Botanicals Collection being offered features the Snow Mushroom, a natural source of hydration (as in, a single one can hold up to 500x its weight in water – wow!)

The Collection will feature:

I love masks and hydrating toners so I look forward to seeing these in store! 🙂

All About The Essence

Well, it’s official… Asian skincare is no longer fringe-y or trend…it’s becoming part of the routine her in the USA. I mean full-fledged…as in mass market, like ULTA et al.

I’m kind of jumping for joy because I L ❤ VE Asian skincare – I’d track it down long before blogs, and American versions for sure!  In a way, I think I will continue to purchase the Asian products I like (with eBay and tons of e-Tailers, it’s become a cinch!)  But…it will be nice to see and try out some of the State-side versions!

There are a few sites which aim to decode the sometimes confusing lingo of Asian skincare, but it’s still a bit blurry – in the United States, “3 step” regimens are most common.  In Japan and Korea, 5 to 10 step programs are more the average, so the list of product types can be overwhelming.

The point of an essence is generally to enrich and (generally) to add some hydration to the skin – to be used after classing and toning, but prior to your regular (or more fortified) moisturizer or serum. It is *kind* of like a watery serum in a way…

While some suggest it is more in the essence vein, Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Nourishing Facial Water is going by “facial water,” which indicates to me that you will still need to use whatever moisturizer you do, but that this will give a little bit of a boost (the Clary Sage is the key “tout” in this range.)  It has been put up on the Ulta site (though not yet available).  (PS, I have the night cream and it’s amazing – definitely thicker and rich.)

I am curious to hear user reviews, for those who were sent trials to post…or when it is ready to buy!
