When Nothing Goes Right…

I love what the “…go left” in the original version of this quotation stands for. . .but I *also* love the gym-rat-edited “…go LIFT” one, and not because it’s gym-leaning.

Exercise is, 1,000%, a proven de-stressor (that happens to have added health benefits, vs. other known de-stressors, like comfort foods, binge eating, alcohol consumption, body-harming vices of whatever design…)

I think a lot of folks who haven’t had the opportunity to be (or exposure to being) active don’t know what they are missing. Whether it is lifting iron in a gym, taking a jog, or just dancing like no one is watching as fiercely as you can, physical movement and engagement can turn a very BAD day (or series of events!) into a much more positive one.  It’s not only for your heart and body, but your mind and emotional state too too…

When nothing goes right, give your body a chance to work out the aggression, frustration, disappointment, whatever. . . It really doesn’t matter if it’s jumping jacks during commercials, going to a barre class, or playing in a soccer league.  ANY movement helps.

By changing your direction and focus, and letting your body do what it was designed to do – move – you can alter not only the tone of the day, but your mood with it.

Win, win.

The Magnetic Mask

I don’t know if I can keep up with the facial and skin masks out there – it’s kind f overwhelming!  That said, I tend – no matter the hype and hullabaloo – to dismiss sheet masks because I just don’t have the wherewithal to lie down for 20 minutes with a sheet on my face!  Not my thing.  Cream masks, however, I can handle.

This newbie – Dr. Brandt Skincare’s MAGNETIGHT Age-Defier –  is designed to age-defy with the power of “attraction.”  Yep, that’s what it says.  The formula is made with iron, whose magnetic properties help to (so they say) “reduce signs of aging skin and reduce the appearance of stressed skin.”  Hmm.

The mask has all skin types in mind, but especially those looking to target fine lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness and elasticity, and dulness and uneven texture.  I feel like I could use help – current AND proactive – in those departments, but I’m not sure the description satisfies my need to hear more about how it actually works.  Curious to hear reviews…

Interested in masks?  Or this one?!

Humor, And The Perfect Woman

I give myself a SERIOUSLY hard time sometimes.  I’m not exactly a typical female and though I am thankful to be as I am, there are times when I have felt badly when other impose their own interpretations of what a woman “should be” on me.

Heaven forbid I say “I don’t cook.”  I mean that generally.  You won’t find me with an apron on baking casseroles, for sure, but that doesn’t mean I’m a total dolt.  I can manage with the smaller variety of things I eat…and I’m absolutely certain I can follow a recipe (I cooked a lot with my parents when I was little.)  But just because baking isn’t my favorite hobby…or being ultra feminine won’t work for my sportier lifestyle, I shouldn’t feel badly.

And you shouldn’t EITHER.

Don’t let anyone else define you, put you down, or place you in a box.

Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that another person’s definition of “perfect” may well deviate (even substantially) from our own.  There is nothing wrong with that!

We all have gifts, and all have room to grow.

We all have preferred activities, and those that just aren’t so much our thing.

And in the end, that’s kind of what makes the planet so interesting, isn’t it?  If everyone was cookie cutter, I think I (for one) would be highly disturbed!

I appreciate my glamorous friends, as much as my sporty ones, my bohemian ones, and the workaholics… I love them all, and appreciate most that THEY are happy.

Conforming just doesn’t work for me – it’s such a drag, and not worth anyone’s time to stress about!  If, as a human being, you do feel down about it, remember that YOUR “prefect” may not be everyone’s “perfect”…but there are countless others to whom your ideal is also perfection.

It’s all in the way you define your terms anyway.

I DO cook.

I definitely “IRON.”

And I always make sure home is nice and clean. 🙂
