How Well The Internet Knows You

On one hand, it’s a little (or a lot) frightening what the Internet knows.  Fortunately I’m not a celeb so I’m not really worried about anyone looking up my “dirt” and coming after me.  (That said, I’m not sure they would once they saw my preferences…)

(Pinterest, for one, is always sending samurai my way for one – they clearly keep track!)

And then there’s Amazon and their recommendations…

Even though data is being gathered, it’s nice (on the other hand) that a a monstrous retail site can suggest things you may like.  Double edged sword (no pun intended!) in that I might spend more, true. . .

BUT…I’d rather have the option to skip the fluff and go to the “good stuff” (or at least what I consider the good stuff) even if it means seeing The Art Of War, 5000 Spells, or Sherlock Holmes again (which already grace my bookcase.)

So – at least for now – I’m okay with the gods of the ether picking up on my search habits.  At least then I won’t have to look at Justin Bieber cds or a princess coloring book to get to the badassery.

Halloween In The Land Of Etsy

Aaaannnd more stores with Halloween fronts… *grinning ear to ear*

In this case, incredibly innovative Halloween jazz!  Etsy is one of my favorite online shops – I even bought things for my October wedding on here.  The brilliant minds, ever creating curiosities and fun – it’s never ending.  For this holiday in particular, you are guaranteed to find some specialty, unique stuff – costumes, accessories, decor…whatever!

Priceless…PS…that the suggested “favorites” and “you might also like” that Etsy shares with me always lean Halloween anyway… ❤

HalloweeBay

Way back when we had to actually go to the store to shop for Halloween decorations, costumes, and other holiday paraphernalia – in many ways, that’s part of the fun, though, right?

Still, when I AM there in person, I generally want to buy (um…hoard) everything they have.  I suppose online that threat is potentially as dangerous – when all I have to do is click one, two, three, I still have to make sure I haven’t stocked up beyond what I need.  (Let’s be honest, chances are, with Halloween decor, I’ve already tipped the scale towards DON’T need.  But whatever!  For me, it isn’t about the party I’m having…I want this stuff for all year round!)

These days life is more hectic – everyone is “on” 24/7, and actually getting to the store might be tricky.  Even if you do, you may forget something while you’re there (that little part about “being on 24/7” has as much bearing on the brain – and memory! – as your physicality.  And your car’s.)

Yay for eBay for embracing the 31st so fully – I love that it isn’t only about “Christmas Shop”s anymore, but that the ghouls of the bunch (myself very much included) have equal opportunity. *insert pumpkin grinning here*  Thanks, online stores! I know it is more about making money for you but, oh, the convenience factor…and larger selection…for the rest of us! ❤  (I found myself giggling that I already own that full moon night light. 🙂 )

It’s only about three weeks away, Samhain, so if you haven’t gotten your act – costumes, preparations, cat toys! – together, you can reach out to the all might internet to get cracking quickly!

For Those Who Are Visual

I’m a visual person – I have poured over editorial photos as images since I was a little girl…in books, fashion magazines, and in last decade plus, Facebook, Pinterest and photographic sites.

Facebook, for me, is incredibly “positive.”  I see positive messages in my feed because of the types of pages I “like” and because of the friends I have (fortunately!)  It’s allowed me to stay in touch with friends from my dancing days, my skating coach, extended family, friends who have moved far away…  And, it has created new friendships with individuals I met after crossing paths with them on Facebook – wonderful, talented folks who I can truly call “friend.”

And what I enjoy most is the visual aspect – the interactions are based around imagery.  I’ve posted possibly more images on my Facebook Fashionjitsu page than I have in my blog…and those that are represented have links back to the post (and attributions for  images that are not mine.)

If you happen to be more visual also, and would prefer to review things that way, here are a few links! 🙂

There a handful MORE albums, believe it or not!  But I figured the above list was a reasonable start! 😉

I hope you enjoy it.  I’m grateful to all of you who read along, comment, and like. ❤  I’m a happy, active girl who just loves to share info.
