McCormick Spices Up Breakfast

I’m so happy to see this!  I don’t deviate a whole ton in my nutrition – I can’t say I get bored, thankfully, but having a variety of spices really helps me avoid that trap to begin with.  I typically use whatever savory seasoning I feel like in the morning, and generally prefer that to sweet.  That said, it is always nice to have more…and new…options!

Enter McCormick’s “Good Morning” breakfast enhancers! These newbies focus specifically on breakfast and are designed to add a flavor boost to your yogurt, oatmeal, smoothies, slow-cooker breakfasts…or whatever else you might desire.

I personally LOVE spice blends and dry seasonings because they tend to be a lot less caloric, giving me the opportunity to eat more of the protein, for example, instead of bulking up on empty condiment calories and less food.

Even more exciting…there are purportedly 18 items in the lineup, scheduled to hit stores later this year.  BOOM!

Six Pack Bags Sauces

I’m always looking for lower calorie condiment options (keeping in mind that I actually want to USE it, not just put a quarter teaspoon on my food!)

I am not, let me say upfront, associated with Six Pack Bags, so no one put me up to sharing… But I did see their sauce profiles recently and though they sounded pretty snappy.

I have a super sensitive system so even if I wanted to go crazy and try something different, I can’t really.  So I appreciate knowing what ingredients are being used, but also that there are options to spice up otherwise boring food.

The Mango Serrano sounds up my alley – sweet and spicy – and I bet it would work well on whatever protein you choose, frankly.

One of the best things about these is that they are very low calorie (zero calorie doesn’t mean there aren’t any – magically – in the bottle, by the way.  There ARE, but they are under 4 or 5 calories a serving, so using these mindfully certainly isn’t going to sabotage your diet.  With hot sauce, a little goes a long way also.)

These sauces are also gluten free, low in sodium, and free of MSG. I try to avoid sauces when I’m out because I never really know what’s going into them.  I also like that I can taste my food, as opposed to a heavy sauce.  BUT, I like flavor as much as anyone and love that there are some options with not a lot of “stuff” on the label, and a lower calorie profile (which means I can worry less about the sauce and more about the quantity and substance of my meal.) The idea shouldn’t be that we can’t enjoy our food, or that we can only have a little of it, right!?

Spring 2017 – MAC Scrubtious

Some fun little lip scrub pots (definitely hitting the mainstream these days, by the way) are coming from MAC for Spring 2017. . .

The Scrumptious collection features five lip scrubs, each with a different (rather fabulously-vibrant!) hue and flavor. Per the Company:

“Pucker up to totally smooth lips with MAC Lip Scrubtious. This new sugar-based exfoliator gently buffs away dry and flaky skin with a formula enhanced by hydrating and nourishing conditioners leaving lips soft and oh-so smoothable.”

Now technically, a scrub is NOT hard to make on your own.  But…when they look this pretty (and with names representing flavors like that) it is kind of hard to resist.

These pots launch in March 2017, in the US and Internationally, and roll out to the rest of Europe later that month.

Flavors include:

  • Sweet Vanilla
  • Candied Nectar
  • Fruit of Passion
  • Summer Berry
  • Sweet Brown Sugar

Um…  DELICIOUS!

2016 / 2017 – Revlon Kiss Balm

I’m sure it’s clear from my countless posts that I’m one of those lip balm types.  I don’t like heavy color, and I LOVE flavor!  (I’m basically a kid in a 38 + year-old form. 😉 )

Revlon has a bunch of items coming out (some already seen in-store) – Nouveaucheap shares a selection of images on her blog, so allow me to share for those of you interested in newness.

I’m not sure if these are really pigmented or what (my favorite “type” is always PH, self-adjusting…like Dior or the new BabyLips from Maybelline.)  Still, they’re named with flavors so I hope they are delicious!

Halloween – Lip Smacker

I’m a total balm girl – I don’t wear lipstick (save for when I was performing in Ballroom Dancing or Figure Skating) and I love flavor! I also – no grand surprise – adore Halloween.

When Halloween items crop up in stores, suddenly I want to buy everything…including limited edition Lip Smackers, designed with the holiday AND Disney Villains in mind.  As the kind of girl who prefers to be Maleficent at five years-old and NOT the Princess, no shocker here!

Lip Smacker has a bunch of fun Fall flavors but I hope I find the same setup Musingsofamuse did! I’ll snatch up all of them as fast as Jack Skellington did Christmas!

Spring / Summer 2016 – Maybelline Baby Lips Pop Art

I’m a balm kind of girl and Baby Lips in Cherry is one of my go-tos.  I’ve sort of stuck with that flavor (and tint), but it’s always fun to see new ones come out!

The most recent are the Pop Art Collection – three shades, and so far I only see them overseas (I’m in the USA.)  Flavors include:

As with all Baby Lips, these offer 8 hours of hydration and a barely-there hint of color.  I haven’t found the flavor to be overwhelmingly noticeable – or sweet (which actually, I love about Smackers! 🙂 ) – but it isn’t unpleasant at all.  I’m curious to hear whether these are more pronounced…
