Cat Humor – Expression…less

Actually…we have two additional modes different from the rest:

Banana mode – I’m a feline torpedo on speed. Face is the same but the eyes are wide with a feverish, almost diabolical glint. Otherwise…as above. Game on.

Hungry mode – I will run several laps around the kitchen island, sometimes in varying directions. My face will remain as above save for my mouth, which is – in bullying fashion – frequently opening and emitting loud-and-whiny sounds.

Ahhhh… Felines. ❤

Summer 2017 – Garnier Skinactive Honey Flower

I often see new skincare crop up overseas before it comes to the States, which means that I at least get enough time to read reviews and see if it’s worth tracking down (before our stores decide to give us the option!)

As a Martial Artist and athlete – not to mention, a fair-skinned woman who is as subject to time and the elements as we all are – skincare is a big deal.  I’m pretty religious – and devoted – to my regimen and products, but I’m ever curious, as the skincare world is rapidly innovating (particularly with more and more exposure to other cultures and markets.  I have a plethora of posts (and there are more!) about Asian skincare, a personal favorite topic.)

Anyway, the Garnier Skinactive Honey Flower range appears to be in the UK presently – you can check it out here on and a variety of other UK web retailers. I learned about the newbies via, where you can also read what the products are like.

Why bother with this new collection?  (Always the question I ask myself because I have a TON of products already. I am, essentially, my own store – but, ladies, the investment IS worth it.  Trust me.) Per’s description:

Garnier’s first toner made of 96% ingredients of natural origin, enriched with Honey Flower, known for its nourishing properties.

These products, therefore, are designed to be gentle with your skin, and less filled with things you can’t pronounce – both are big pluses. They are also specifically helpful to dry or very dry skin – come the colder months, that might be really important for most of us!

That said, if you already use such products, and find that they work nicely for you, I don’t know whether these are totally necessary.  But again, they’re out online at least, which means you can also snoop through the reviews and see if they make sense for you.  More and more companies are going the more-natural-less-harsh route so you certainly have a fair share of options.

Skin Ink Multi-Masking Treatment Mask

Only a matter of time for a skincare company to come out with a customizable sheet mask, right?

We all have different skincare needs and, frankly, our own needs can change not only with seasons, but from day-to-day depending on climate, our activities, our cycles, etc…

I love that these masks – while not 100% customizable in the sense of whatever ultra-specific permutation you need – allow some freedom to mix between the lower jaw line and the upper face, two broad areas that often are doing different things. Instead of countless variations, there are only nine combinations you can create…but that’s 8 more than just any ol’ sheet mask!

I love seeing the continued innovations, and the taking-a-nod-from-overseas beauty by companies NOT originating there – I’ve been going on about Asian skincare since the 90’s, when I was in my later teens, so for me, it’s like a miracle the US and other countries are FINALLY following suit.  “Porcelain doll” skin has been on my radar my whole life and with the consistent drive for cutting-edge that comes from the East, it’s a lot easier to come by these days.

Clarisonic Smart Profile Uplift

So I’m sure there are a plethora of skeptics out there.  I was one myself. . .before my Clarisonic cleansing brush.  I still just use my hands to wash my face sometimes but I ALWAYS see a difference when I use my – rather expensive – brush device.  So yes…it’s worth it.

A new advancement has come to light, however, in the Clarisonic Smart Profile Uplift ($349). The 2-in-1 cleansing and micro-firming device not only cleanses the skin, but purportedly targets 15 signs of aging (per

Smart Profile Uplift targets 15 signs of aging on face, neck, and décolleté.

  • Provides next-level micro-firming massage.
  • Delivers skin-changing sonic cleansing.
  • Minimizes the look of pores.
  • Boosts the absorption of your daily skincare products.
  • See visible, cumulative results.

I know sounds too good to be true, but home devices (the right ones) are an amazing way to keep up with results from dermatologic procedures, and to make the products you have at home work their best. Think of it as an investment.

It’s a new product so there aren’t many reviews (which I always invest in reading for pricier items), but I’d keep your eyes open because as with anything that promises these kinds of results…it’s SURE to catch on.  Especially from this brand, with known “cult” brushes (and cult for great reason – they WORK!)

Garnier Sheet Masks

I’ve seen zero word of these until this am – I was resistant to sheet masks forever, thinking they fall right off my face while I did other things around the house, took a bath, whatever.  They DON’T, and they’re FABULOUS.  And, you have to wear a lot less on your skin, or zero makeup at all, when your “canvas” is in great shape.

I haven’t – obviously – tried these, but I do have the Garnier Aqua Bomb moisturizer, which I love.  I like Garnier as a brand as well, and hope that we see these in the USA…soon.  The moisture sheet masks are typically the ones I go for – they not only hydrate, but soothe and plump the skin.  At almost 39…I like it! 😉

Backstage – Dior Colour Filters

Dior has a ton of products masquerading in this package, one of which is my favorite balm in the world.  And generally, these snappy, back-knobbed sticks show up during the runway shows, sneaking their way into the backstage photos while models get prepped to show off the new collection (clothing and cosmetics alike!)

These two new “Fix It” products, available August 1st, come in four shades, all designed to mask imperfections and unwanted tones:

  • Apricot (great for dark circles)
  • Yellow (can tone down ruddiness, as well as help with circles)
  • Blue (good for sallowness or overly-orange that needs to be evened, as well as adding radiance)
  • Green (tones down redness)

The color portion of this 2-in-1 tool wraps around a “soft focus” core that supposedly helps to diffuse lines and creases (tons of blurring products out there, so no surprise.)  The great news is that for BritishBeautyBlogger, this actually didn’t settle into lines, so it delivered what it claims it will.  She also felt it was nicely pigmented (which you can see in her swatches – I was impressed with the color payoff also given the ratio of core to color.)

These are meant to be used as a primer for the eyes, lips, and the face, so feel free to play around!

Spring / Summer 2016 – Revlon Insta-Fix

I have to laugh… “Insta-fix.”  Wouldn’t THAT be nice!?  *LOL*

I haven’t actually seen this Photoready Duo elsewhere, so many thanks to BudgetBeautyBlog for sharing the spot.  I prefer to see things in advance of them coming out because then I have time to determine whether I really need it…or just that I love the idea (and my savings) more. 😉

Check out her link above for a photo-heavy post!
