The “Otherworldly” Glow Getter

Highlighters have absolutely proliferated the market…I’ve gone on about it plenty, and so have most beauty blogs.  And fashion sites. And publications. It’s a trend that hasn’t gone away, and probably will always find a place no matter the changing tides (yes, even when matte is the end all be all!)

Ethereal is ALWAYS in, but galactic is a whole other thing… It is definitely less wearable, but somehow still as appealing to most eyes (and wallets!) simply because of its novelty and “otherworldliness.”  I mean, who doesn’t want some kind of gleam somewhere?  It’s chic to sport an angelic sheen!  In the case of Milk Makeup’s Holographic Stick, though, it IS more extraterrestrial.

I’ve seen a bunch of posts out there but BeautyByKelsey shared one of the best swatches of this stick, as well as Anastasia’s Moonchild palette, Kat Von D’s Eyeshadow, Pat McGrath’s 003 highlighter (which was a quickly snatched-up cult item when it came out some months ago.)  It was nice to see it here, as other posts didn’t quite get the “on-skin, actual” look across.  Not to mention, if you really want to go full-bore, you have a nice collection of space-age products and hues to choose from!

There’s a definite lilac sheen going on here – it does NOT (hallelujah!) appear to be glittery or shimmery at all. Fear not, for those of you for whom glitter is your thing – this will still command some attention when on your skin (at least from someone else’s rods and cones!)

Not for the faint of heart, but those who want to stand apart. And glow while they’re at it.

Supernova, outer-spaced fabulousness.  If there’s life out there, prepare to wow.

Make Up Forever Artist Shadow Eyeshadow and Powder Blush

Can I just say…holy versatility?!

Make Up Forever’s Artist Shadow and Powder Blush is a dream for anyone who either dolls up every day…OR performs or has a major event (think wedding, gala, etc.)

I have a wedding (my own!) coming up soon – unfortunately (or fortunately, so says my wallet!) I already have a ton of stuff to work with.  Had I not, I’d likely have gone straight to this enormous selection to find the shades I want to mix.  Had I seen this back in my Ballroom Dancing days, I’d likely own half by now.  Okay, maybe just a fourth.

The formulas come in

  • Matte
  • Metallic
  • Satin
  • Shimmer

And there are more shades that I have EVER seen for any other product.  Truly, a plethora. No matter what your mood, what the season, or what the occasion, your pretty much promised something from this array.  And nevermind if the shade says “eyeshadow” or “blush” specifically – you can basically use it however you want.

Summer 2016 – NARS

NARS has always been a favorite of mine.  I don’t really wear much makeup and never have…but for performances on ice, on stage, or in the ballroom, these products ALWAYS held up.  In other words, the pigments are lasting, and the products are of a beautiful quality, delivering what they intend to.

The Summer Collection features fun and cheeky packaging, designed with Konstantin Kakanias’ contempo-style art.  Modern, happy, definitely that Summer vibe…

The 10-piece Collection (check out swatches and reviews from Temptalia!) will be available in just a few days on the 15th of April at NARS Boutiques, and then at Sephora beginning on May 1 (always useful because many of us will look for a new Collection in-store that hasn’t yet rolled out!  Saves the disappointment! 😉 )

The Collection will include the following (thank you to for the color descriptions!)

NARS Lip Cover:

  • Overheated (Deep Dusky Rose)
  • Do Not Disturb (Vivid Orange-Red)
  • Get Dirty (Desert Rose)
  • Members Only (Crimson)

NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow

  • Deep End (Shimmering Teal-Green)
  • Tan Lines (Rich Hazelnut)
  • Topless (Seahshell Pink)
  • Pool Shark (Iresdiscent Periwinkle)

NARS Dual-Intensity Blush

  • Liberation (Shimmering Light Pink/Caramel Rose)
  • Sexual Content (Sandy Peach/Soft Raspberry)

Bloody Gorgeous

No sense in denying I clicked immediately to see what this was about – “Bloody Gorgeous!” it read… Slave to the vampy side, I confess! 🙂

I absolutely LOVE the shades in this collection – equally as divine for fair or deep skin (though one need have a light hand if the former!) photo photo

This box set, by the late, and amazing, Kevyn Aucoin is a Collection of “iconic products in Kevyn’s favorite shade Bloodroses.”  The set is priced at $125 and includes:

Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons

The Chocolate Bon Bons Collection is, according to Jarrod Blandino, “a candy-coated confection of heart-shaped delights with 16 matte and shimmer shades in cool pops of color, sugary brights, and beautiful go-to-neutrals…”

Here are a few images from the video…

Looks like fun! 🙂

Spring 2016 – L’oreal

BudgetBeautyBlog posted some great info and images of the up-and-coming L’oreal goodies, all of which appear to be launching in February 2016.

You can find my post about the L’Oreal Lumi Cushion here, which will be launching in 12 shades, and you can see more images and notes from the link above…

The Infallible Pro-Contour Contour & Highlight Palette is next up, coming in three shades.  I’ll be honest, the image doesn’t wow me too much…I feel like they are late to the contour party.  There, I said it!  Anyway…  The compact appears to have a contour shade, and highlight shade…and a likely a sponge or brush for application (as many other compacts of this ilk from L’Oreal.)

There will be 15 shades of ColourRiche eyeshadows…and they look like they are pigment dense, based on one of the blogger’s swatches… As well as 10 Pro Matte Infallible Glosses (which may, or may not be, a re-promote from 2015’s Spring lineup.)

And there will even be new haircare…which, despite the ARSENAL of products I own, I am excited for!  The one shown in her post is an Oil Shampoo for dry and lifeless hair in need of nourishment – it’s loaded with some powerhouse ingredients (curious to see where they fall on the actual ingredient list, of course!)  I am betting there will be a few more items in the haircare division, as they never really launch just one… But then, perhaps it is just an extension of the Extraordinary Oil series for now.

Lots of newness, which is always exciting each season… I promise myself I won’t get anything else because WHY do I need it?! (I DON’T!)…  But it is such fun!!!

Spring 2016 – YSL Beauty

Thanks to ChicProfile for sharing images of this Springtime fun, albeit before the snow (I don’t mind!)

The two YSL palettes are in limited supply, and will be launching in early Spring of 2016.  The compacts are gorgeous enough to deliberately display on a vanity (so you should, in other words, show them off!)

One compact is a Face Palette with three highlighting and correcting colors (violet, lavender and yellow) plugs a pink blush (it looks like it might have shimmer.)

The second compact, Couture Palette for Eyes pairs a mix of rose and mossy shadows with a glowing silver in the center – adding some flair, no doubt, so an otherwise Earthy palette.  Woodland Goddess??

Let’s just go with that…shall we?!

Tarte’s Greatest Glitz

Many thanks to Temptalia for sharing images of Tarte’s Greatest Glitz Collector’s set(s) (do look at her page – TONS of swatches!)

The package contains three palettes which collectively hold:

  • 24 Eyeshadows
  • 1 Travel mascara
  • 1 Twist-up jumbo lip crayon
  • 3 Blushes

All three come in a rose gold box, bedecked with gold, silver, pewter and bronze sequins.  Incredibly festive, I daresay!

All three palettes can be separated, and all are well-paired and wearable – it’s more up to your personal tastes and skin tones as far as which will get used up most quickly!

For $49, this is a pretty wonderful deal.  If you didn’t want all, perhaps you could split it up for fabulous stocking stuffers?  Holidays are right around the corner!

Holiday 2015 – The Balm, In “TheBalm” Of Your Hand

The Balm’s Holiday 2015 Palette – In theBalm Of Your Hand –  is one of the least plain-jane that I’ve seen as far as packaging goes.  Frankly, it’s adorable!

The Balm is known for it’s fun designs, and this looks kind of like a little comic book when you open it up.  In fact, it seems to have its own little fold-out deal with it – Les Plus Grand Succes Vol.1.

The products include:

  • 4 perfectly coordinated eyeshadows (Blam Jovi, Shady Lady 1, Shady Lady 2, Nudetude)
  • 3 universal blushes (Hot Mama, Instain, Cabanaboy)
  • A matte bronzer (Bahama Mama)
  • A champagne-hued highlighter (Mary-Lou Manizer)
  • A classic red lip color (TheBalm Girls)
  • A nude lip and cheek cream (How Bout Them Apples)

The hues are all pretty fabulous, and would work on a variety of tones.  It doesn’t feel particularly “Holiday” in the sense of I-have-a-Chirstmas-party-to-attend…but then I suppose a bit of highlight, flushed “in from the cold” cheeks, and a red lip will do!
