Poshmark – High Heels and Whatever Else

I don’t know…eBay is nice and all but Poshmark is pretty great.  Once upon a time I was in Product Development in Ladies Footwear – talk about a wild ride!  Fashion at it’s finest…and craziest…and literally in the thick of it.  We used to say “we see everything from the birth, to the death, of a shoe.”  And we did…

Poshmark is great because it offers more than just what you can find on eBay (but, in the same vein, both new and loved items you may not be able to get elsewhere – Fashion obsolescence!)

If you want to list something on Poshmark, while there are fees involved in selling, there aren’t any up front for listing…so even if you get dinged with a small fee at point of sale, you aren’t getting nailed monthly with hefty fees (those on eBay can really add up.)  So basically it’s long-term exposure without a major price tag, provided your items need it.

It’s definitely worth checking out if you haven’t as yet… You can do so here.

Pat McGrath’s Gold

Pat McGrath is one of the most well-known makeup artists out there, and continues to be a key force in the creation of “looks” for the Runways each season.  McGrath also has a background as the global creative director with Proctor & Gamble, a position which included involvement with brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, and CoverGirl.

I’m kind of surprised that she is coming out with a product line now…  Surprised in the sense that I’d have expected it years ago!  She intends to roll out her full collection at the end of 2016, but for the moment she will be selling some limited-edition products on her website, Path McGrath Labs.

Gold 001 is the first of these… A static “obsession,” backed by Pinterest-like thumbnail images on a chaotic television screen backdrop.  It is, lest I bear the bad news, sold out (eBay is always a good starting point!).

If you can track it down, though, Gold 001 includes:

  • Gold 001 pigment
  • Metal spatula
  • Second life container
  • Mehron mixing liquid

“…Celebrate the inspiration, illumination and irreverence of all your #LabLove, “ it says, with a the kind of impudence you might get from a feisty London punk at a Fashion Show…

I like it.  It’s sassy.  It’s unapologetic and not at ALL easy to wear.  It’s a collectible item, or for those who aren’t faint of heart…

I’m eager to see what she comes out with next!

Sophia No.1

On September 21st, Dolce and Gabbana will be hoisting an “exclusive experience” at the Dolce & Gabbana Boutique in Corso Venezia 7, Milan – the hoopla?  A “unique shade of red, ” special tribute lipstick in honor of Italian siren Sophia Loren…”Sophia Loren No. 1” (you can pre-order yours by clicking the link!)

Sophia Loren No. 1 Dolce & Gabbana

Sophia Loren No. 1 Dolce & Gabbana

The main Dolce image felt rather vibrant to me…and not nearly as “red” as I anticipated – I was expecting to see something less magenta, perhaps? It is still rather striking.  That said, I saw a few more images on BritishBeautyBlogger…which had me a bit perplexed.

Sophia Loren No. 1 Dolce & Gabbana

It looks a lot less OOMPH-ie in the tube in a true photo (though let’s be fair, photos and colors are always tricky to judge on a screen.)

I’m thinking to myself…it really wouldn’t matter if Sophia was wearing it and it WASN’T as bold as the ad, now would it?  She’s so gorgeous she could wear a 99 cent lippie and be red-carpet ready no matter!

I’m curious to see more swatches of it – I actually think the Dolce lipsticks, while perhaps less “go-to” than other brands – are pretty fabulous – I’ve not seen a color that wasn’t as yet.  Worth checking out…if you are a Sophia-diva fan…or you just love your lippies!

D&G’s Rainbow Lace

I not only love that Dolce & Gabbana’s is doing Taormina lace…which can be everything from haute, to edge to elegant, to sexy rock ‘n’ roll…but that they are offering so many gorgeous (and WEARABLE!) shades!

They could go with an evening gown, but then who wants to compete?!

If you are feeling edgy, wear them with light-colored denim and a tee (rock royalty?!)

More professional?  Pair them with tapered khaki pants for the office

Or toss them on with an all-black, evening-out ensemble to jazz things up with a jolt of vibrant color.

These lovely ladies are bedecked with large-scale brooches, sporting “bright bezels” – “they’re so happy!” as my mother would say.

Decadent, absolutely.

Show-stopping, 100%.

And SO much fun. 😀

I find the colors to be right on point – perfect, representative shades of each color group. The array of nudes – from deeper, to pink-hued, to cream – is stunning, and will work on a variety of skin tones.  Black is a must-have, of course (you can choose from a variety of heel heights, by the way, adding to Dolce’s points!)

There’s also a true, blue-based red that’s divine, fiery orange, watery teal and powder blue… All just beautiful.

Emerald and cobalt are also accounted for, as well as a golden yellow, bright red, peach, and regal purple.

The colors, to me, are what really make this line perfection – I don’t ordinarily wear color on my feet, but these are such statement shoes that stepping out (no pun – honestly! – intended) is absolutely warranted.
