2016 / 2017 – Maybelline V, All About The Shading

I guess they’re still on the contour kick, along with a whole lot of shading (and fading)…

Still a fan of the trend?  Apparently it’s going strong backstage – and in Asia (not surprisingly, since they tend to be ahead of the times.)

Summer 2016 – Essie Bridal Collection

While I won’t be a bride this Summer…I will be come Autumn, though…so I thought it would be fun to share this new Bridal Collection from Essie for ladies who ARE getting married (or attending a wedding!) this Spring or Summer! 🙂

The Collection features six new shades, all delicate pastels – they are fresh, happy, and perfect for the Season (particularly, in my opinion, Springtime.)

The colors will retail for $8.00, and include:

  • Between The Seats – ivory
  • Groom Service – soft lavender
  • Passport To Happiness – a bright mint
  • Steal His Name – milky peach
  • Coming Together – light pink
  • Mrs Always-Right – cranberry terracotta

I like that they do offer a deeper “pastel” option for those who may not want to go too “sweet.”  The names, of course, are super cheeky and fun…  I kind of like the shimmer, Passport To Happiness mint myself…

As for me, though, even though it will be Autumn. . .three days from my FAVORITE day, Halloween!. . .AND despite my inherent vampiness. . .I will go with my usual glitter ombre.  It always looks so fun, reminds me of my ballroom days, and will definitely work with the gown!

Glitter Ombre

Glitter Ombre

Giorgio Armani Ecstasy Lacquer Maharajah 506

That’s quite a name for a lip gloss!  Giorgio Armani’s Ecstasy Lacquer in Maharajah 506 is a luscious pink cherry hue with iridescent violet micro glitter.

The shades, featuring ten intense lacquered and eight “pearlescent metallic“s, apparently stay put even though meals and drinks.  Once it does fade  – anywhere from 6 to 8 hours later – it leaves a lovely stain behind…or at least a little bit of the glitter!

ChicProfile – many thanks for these photos! – shares her wonderful review about the color, the lasting factor, and application.  I think the packaging is pretty divine, pairing the black gloss and the color for an bold degrade.

I used to be a glitter MANIC – I’d wear it to class in college, just because.  (Who’s Foreign Financial Markets class couldn’t use it?!) But these days, I leave the glitter to my finger tips and toes…so while I LOVE the beautiful hue of Maharaja, it may be a skip for me.

Pantone Universe and Sephora – 2016 Colors Of The Year

As you may have seen, Sephora and Pantone have collectively announced the new Color(s) Of The Year – Rose Quartz and Serenity will be offered in a range of finishes beginning in December for a limited time.

The colors read height of Spring to me, but then one could always go for the wintery-pastel-snow-bunny look too! It is always okay to lighten the mood, as far as I am concerned, and these two hues are about as bright and happy as they get!

Per Sephora:

THE EYE PALETTE

Sephora + Pantone Universe Color of the Year Modern Watercolors Eye Palette

The shades in this exclusive 15-shade pan palette are all about pleasing the eye. The shimmer and matte formulas are infused with Vitamin E to nurture lids, while the pastel and bright hues can be worn together in a variety of ways to create a visual masterpiece.

THE LIP GLOSS

Sephora + Pantone Universe Color of the Year Modern Watercolors Lip Gloss Set

In line with its rule-breaking mantra, the six pastel hues in this lip gloss set are anything but understated. A swipe of the melt-on-your-mouth formula instantly delivers rich color and a dose of conditioning hydration. Your lips will look contemporary, smooth, and unexpected.

THE LIPSTICK

Sephora + Pantone Color of the Year Matte Lipstick in Rose Quartz

In 2016, sweet hues take on a bold attitude and these matte lipsticks deliver the drama with full-color payoff. Swipe on the velvety matte texture in Rose Quartz for a femme look that’s not afraid of being unconventional.

Sephora + Pantone Color of the Year Matte Lipstick in Serenity

While this lipstick comes in the same texture and finish as Rose Quartz, this version of the lipstick is even more daring, yet delicate thanks to its Serenity hue. Color it on your lips for a futuristic effect that wows the present.

I am looking forward to seeing swatches (curious about pigmentation!) but I think these hues are such fun.  I also LOVE the ombre packaging – I’m not quite girlie-girl, and I rarely wear such pale shades…but it doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate the colors of a morning May sky… Spring baby, after all! 🙂

Golden Wings

I loved this image from @nyxcosmetics – talk about a perfect way to do a holiday look, @_makeupbyjenna!  What I love most about it is that she didn’t just add a wing of liner, she paired the gold with coppers and brows to do a contoured degrade effect (I’d like to write that properly but have no idea how to get the accent aigu – anyone know?!)  This is the perfect way to make a statement…or to bring out your inner pinup!

She highlighted under the brow bone and filled her brows to maintain a polished overall effect – really gorgeous.

Glitter UV Gel

I’ve done UV Gel for years…ever since my competitive Ballroom dance days.  Most of the ladies do a wide French but I alway stuck to my degrade glitter – it was different, still maintained the look of long “lines,” and just made me happy!  It may be the girliest thing about me, matter of fact…

I moved about two months ago and I was worried about finding a replacement for the woman I went to – she knew exactly what I needed done, and exactly how I wanted it.  But thanks to Google – there is always Google! – I located a few places and found the perfect one!

I wasn’t going to wither and keel over if I could have them done – it isn’t the end all be all by any stretch! But  little comforts or treats that we have for ourselves keep us in a routine, and give us some kind of control.

Leaving one place and starting over can feel overwhelming – something as small as getting your Gel redone, or having your haircut can be a stressor!  Might sound silly to some, but when you think about it, those little things are like reference points – they’re things you look forward to in order to unwind and treat yourself!

The great news is, there is always someone else out there, and they are often close by.  Read reviews and do your due diligence, but know that it really isn’t a big deal…and you will find your  groove soon enough! 🙂

The Blood Runs Deep

So of course ANYTHING vampy will catch my attention…

I love red nails, and I LOVE degrade.  So naturally this mani stood out!  I prefer longer claws but…I love the deep red to black.

Sassy, @Nail_Swag.  I dig it!
