Mandalas and Mantras – I AM Beautiful

I came across this book – Coloring Book, Mandalas and Mantras, by Robert Martin – in The Letters Of Gratitude and wanted to share…

Why a share a coloring book for adults, a seemingly odd (and  unconventional) proposition to some?

Because too many adults have lost their Magic.

In my mind, the tragedy is that everyone is capable of living a Magical Life, and manifesting good things.

Over the years we become conditioned – by challenging circumstances, tough relationships, unprocessed (or inappropriately processed) memories.  We begin to use words and phrases like “not good enough,” “unattractive,” “can’t…”  All dangerous and untrue.

Our conversation with ourselves, as they say, IS a conversations with the Universe.  How we treat ourselves manifests the same vibration elsewhere.  So taking time for US…getting to know and LOVE ourselves, is of the utmost importance.  It must come before anything (and everyone) else.

I could write for hours on the subject, but to be more concise, what I LOVED about this book’s concept is that it is intended to slow us down.

It allows us to unleash our creative…

To sit with a mantra which, as we illuminate it’s form with the colors our heart feels “fit,” we repeat to ourselves.

“I am beautiful.”

“I am beautiful.”

 “I am beautiful.”

It allows us to revert to an activity which, in childhood, promoted our sense of freedom, individuality, without judgement.

That last part is one of the keys – “without judgement.”  I have learned the hard way just how much I judge myself – circumstances may slow things down, but we are in control of stopping, or forging ahead.

Color…without judgement.

Color…outside the lines if you feel like it.

Color…with the hues that make the most sense to YOU…because it is YOUR magic, YOUR Life, the colors that make you feel good inside.

If you feel like Life has lost it’s Magic, and maybe that things are flying past at far too quick a pace…check out this book and let yourself just BE.

Remember what it was like, and remind yourself how amazing you are, and how good you are at being you. ❤

2015 Creative Blogger Award

I want to thank Megan for her generous nomination for the Creative Bloggers Award – you can find her wonderful blog here: http://meganhasocd.com/about/  😀

Creative Blogger

I definitely understand what it is like to have struggles, having gone through rather a lot as well – I am so grateful to all those who share their stories, and I feel SO blessed to share mine also.  We are IN IT TOGETHER, and WE ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.  Megan, thank you for your bravery!

I have been working on something ENTIRELY different the last few years…and it wasn’t until about three weeks ago that my coworkers and I ended our pursuits.  My father suggested blogging and at first I thought…who on earth will even read what I am saying?!  But from the first post on, I was hooked.

I personally have followed a few (anywhere from the last few years, to as recently as six months ago) and I would love to share them here.

I am honored and touched by ALL of you who read, like and comment on these posts.  I am thankful to be able to share positivity.

As Megan stated…

  • Share 5 facts about yourself to your readers
  • Pass these rules on to them

5 Facts About Myself

  1. I am a true Gemini – my facets are many, and deep.  I am a Vamp, an Empath, an athlete, a lover, a fighter, a Light-bringer, a fire-starter, a dreamer… I believe in things that cannot be seen, because a lot of the time, it is a “feeling.”  I am intuitive, ultra positive, and I L O V E to laugh.  Loudly!
  2. I LOVE heavy metal. ❤ As a dancer, I love all genres of music, but without metal I’d be distressed!
  3. I LOVE animals.  ALL OF THEM.  As a little girl I didn’t ask for a pony, I asked for a black panther or a wolf.
  4. I am incredibly, vastly thankful. For EVERYTHING. ❤
  5. I am a survivor. ❤ I have been through all sorts of abuse – mental, verbal and physical.  I ended up with two severe eating disorders (simultaneously), PTSD and CPTSD, plus anxiety as a result.  The physical ramifications alone were horrifying… And, I beat it.  You live with these disorders your whole Life deep down…but there is HOPE, and there IS a way.  I share my stories because I AM a survivor…and I want those suffering to know there is hope for them ALSO.  IT CAN BE DONE.

Sketching, and the Art of Jumping In Without a Clue!

As I mentioned earlier on….I am NOT an artist.  I have friends and family who are REAL artists.  And they are all UH-MAZING.  I love what they do, admire their talent, and am always grateful for tips!

When I was in Fashion I was given (a very generous, in my opinion!) opportunity to sketch.  I taught myself, and I did my best to absorb and learn from those around me – it’s never to late, and to hell with not having gone to school for it!  I had IDEAS…and all I really needed to do was be able to translate those ideas on to paper.

Not so easy!

What the sketchers and designers do is NOT an easy job – they work hard at it, have long hours, and suffer from migraines, blurry vision, and serious carpal tunnel syndrome!  No joke.  So I was also thankful that I could help here and there in whatever way I could, and to learn as I went along.  (I’d literally STARE!)

At first, my sketches were maybe 2″ by and 1″ – minuscule, totally out of proportion…and just plain odd.  But, I tried!  Those ideas were swirling around and it was totally worth giving it a go…  Let’s be honest…it was more like doing the high dive without having any idea about what to do, save that I shouldn’t do a cannonball. Great.

I bit the bullet (and a pencil or two) and kept at it…

Though my sketches were never like the pros, the my creativity was conveyed with more and more ease…  And that made ME happy because I wasn’t trying to use my hands and worse, WORDS, to describe a design!  It was also helpful because more ideas meant for better brainstorming – it was totally collaborative. ❤

I ended up not only with hundreds of shoe sketches, but also designing all my Ballroom costumes and gowns, as well as designing in the jewelry field for a short stint (SO FUN!) 😀

The point of all this jabbering is…

If you don’t have a degree, or the same background as your coworkers…WHO CARES!

T R Y !

Jump in.  With your clothes on!

DO a cannonball if you feel like it...just TRY.

You never know where it will lead.  You may love it.  You may hate it!  But you will always know you tried...and if doors open up for you because of it, you will be even more thrilled.  You will be so proud of yourself…and even if we never meet, I will be proud of you too!  Because I am proud of EVERYONE out there who just gives it a go, nerves be damned.  You’ve got a lot more up your sleeves than you probably even know.

Yes, you.   You have what it takes!
