Summer 2016 – Estee Lauder Genuine Glow

More glow-getters on the horizon, this time from cosmetic giant, Estee Lauder.  Genuine Glow Summer 2016 Collection includes five super-star, radiance-delivering products:

What I love about these products is that they are ageless – they can work beautifully for someone in their 20’s as much as someone in her 50’s – they are designed to give a natural illumination to the complexion with subtle, flushed color.

There’s no over-doing here, no mask-like finish, or real ability to be too heavy-handed in the first place.  Hallelujah!

In my own mind the goal of any color cosmetic (shy of ballroom / skating / theater performance (etc) OR your wedding (mine’s soon! ❤ ) / night out (etc)) is to enhance.  Not hide.

Yes, you ARE gorgeous enough to go without makeup!  But for days when you might need an extra boost – just enough to give your bright eyes the spotlight (as opposed to sleepless undeyes or lackluster skin!) – these hydrating, priming, and brightening products can help.

Chicprofile shares more details here (haven’t seen all online as yet, but those with links are above. 🙂 )

Le Frog Prince…

Lipstick Queen always pushes the envelope where traditional is concerned…  The Frog Prince range, which includes a lipstick and a lipgloss, is welcoming a newbie to the lineup, Frog Prince Blush.

That Frankenstein, froggy, swampy green seems unbecoming at first….but it has proven itself in other formulations to blossom into a delicious pink, fit for a princess.

The blush is designed to adapt to your skin’s unique pH, allowing for a budding rose shade most flattering on YOU to emerge.  Vitamin E combines with  shea butter, avocado oil, jojoba oil and olive oil to both nourish and moisturize your cheeks while you innocently flush.

Why do I love it?  It’s unconventional…and it comes out natural.

Fall 2016 / 2017 – MAC Trend Forecast

Usually I see these post to MAC early on…but I appreciate that ReallyRee beat everyone else to the punch, sharing images and swatches of the up-and-coming Autumn Palettes.

I LOVE the colors in these, finding them to be incredibly wearable overall.  The less obvious, less (perhaps) everyday shades are still in hues that can be worn both with major impact…or in a more subtle way – so all around, they offer a wonderful selection to choose from to create a wintery flush, or something more dramatic.

It isn’t fair of me to share all of ReallyRee’s swatches, so please click her link above to see all of her fabulous photos! Really gorgeous, if you ask me.

One palette is designed for the eye, the other for the lips…but I personally think these can be used for lips, eyes AND cheeks, pretty interchangeably…  They last well and apparently don’t crease – hallelujah.  So really whatever you feel like doing with them works! 🙂  You can mix, or use stand-alone – as always, MAC delivers something divine.

L’Oreal Cushion Glow!

The number of brands joining the cushion party is astounding…although I can’t say surprising!  I’ve written countless posts about the influence of Asian skincare (here, here, here, aaaand here, as a few examples) and color cosmetics, and the trend(s) just keep forging ahead.

L’Oreal is taking a step beyond just foundations and color correction (two areas that are becoming increasingly more saturated.)  Their Instagram page showed a sneak peak of six sassy, Spring-infused blush shades, suggesting that they will be rolling out worldwide shortly:

  • P1 Pink Fantasy
  • P2 Pink Romance
  • P3 Rose Affair
  • C1 Sunkissed Coral
  • C2 Sunset Coral
  • F1 Fuchsia Flush

The word is that they are less creamy than they are “watery,” but I think with any cushion product, you do get a lighter, sheerer texture in general.  For me, that’s a nice thing because I don’t like to be heavy-handed – buildable is always a nice thing, as with such control, you can fully create the intensity you are looking for.  It’s nice to have a natural, lit-from-within glow…isn’t it?

Becca Luminous…Continued

It’s hard not to know about Becca’s original Shimmering Skin Perfector – I feel like it made a thousand cameos in articles about highlighting and strobing in the last few months.  I’ll be honest, though…I’m  not a fan.

Yes, of course I LOVE the idea of ethereal, glowing dewiness…  But shimmer?  I’ve moved on.

It isn’t that I don’t love shimmer and glitter also, for the right event or performance (the latter which goes without saying)…  But at nearly 38, I really don’t want it on my face anymore.  (I may well have it on my nails for moons to come…but I feel like I can get away with that a little bit easier.)

Despite my personal dislike, the product does have a wide following…and often five-stars on sites.  If you don’t mind glinting in the sun a bit, it is a lovely wash of radiance, and wears (as I understand) quite well.  Hopping on the coattails of that success, the Company is now offering a Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blush.

I adore the word “luminous” so of course I checked it out…  The six shades being offered are:

  • Snapdragon (coral)
  • Tigerlily (tangerine)
  • Blushed Copper (copper)
  • Camellia (ballerina pink)
  • Foxglove (orchid)
  • Dahlia (cabernet)

The first two can be purchased using the link above, and the others will be available April 7th, on Sephora, and on Becca’s website.

I think I will wait to see swatches, and read descriptions before making a full judgment (it’s only fair) but I am thrilled that “luminosity” has become such a thing.  What makes it better is when a subtle flush of color is added – the two in combination are a surefire way to get to “youthful radiance”…and I’m all for that.

Still, I’d like it to be as natural and shimmer-free as possible.  As an athlete and woman who prefers to enhance just barely, it’s important to me not to drown out in a sea of sparkle.  Curious to see what these end up looking like on the skin!

Lorac Light Source

Lorac is following on the tails of a massive highlighting…er…strobing…trend with their Light Source Illuminating Highlighters.  There’s really nothing quite like having an ethereal glow – when I workout it’s a glow for sure, but I’m not sure it qualifies as ethereal exactly!

These beauties appear to come in four gorgeous, pale pink shades, though details are yet to be announced.

I try my best to steer clear of glitter and shimmer these days because I prefer to be as natural and bare as I can manage.  Still, a gentle swipe of highlighter strategically placed can not only brighten and give you a rested appearance, but it also lends that youthful, baby glow that we all aim to maintain (or achieve when it’s nowhere to be found!) 😉

These look utterly divine…

Dandelion Dew

Nothing can wake you up faster that a flush on your cheeks – if you are fair-skinner like I am, that’s especially true!

I was excited to see Benefit’s new Dandelion Dew, a matte liquid blush in Dandelion’s signature soft pinky-peach hue.  Matte it may be, it claims to leave a lit-from-within “delicate gleam” – I like the idea that it can add that kind of youthful radiance withOUT shimmer (something I have very much outgrown over the years.)

The formula is lightweight, bendable, and adds a glow to any skin tone.  I am eager to check it out in store…not that I need it, necessarily (but has that stopped any of us, really?)
