Halloween Fun – Wish Formula Bat Eye Essence Mask

Well, this is a first… I mean, I’ve seen sheet masks with character faces, but one in the shape of a bat…not until now. The glam-goth girl in me thinks it’s absolutely precious (and I’m not sure I’d ever want to use any other eye mask again!)

If you’re feeling (or looking) a little fatigued, Wish Formula Bat Eye Essence Mask will swoop in to the rescue. Combining soothing licorice, brightening vitamin C, hydrating fermented honey…and a kiss of mistletoe…these sassy little wings will perk you right up, leaving you with a wakeful look, and plump-ified peepers.

If you love Halloween as much as I do, the marketers might well have you snookered.

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Exfoliating Peel Spray

I do my best to age as gracefully as possible – we are, of course, at the mercy of our genes to some extent, but there’s a lot to be said for being proactive.

I was fortunate that my mother always has a skincare “routine” – she never went to bed with makeup on, she always washed her face, she generally had more than one or two creams, serums, or oils that she’d apply. . .  I not only watched her, and the various steps she took to care for her skin, but I often asked questions and snooped around her products.

I was interested in skincare at a really young age, so that helped too.  It wasn’t about making myself “beautiful” per se, or thinking I could one day cheat the clock.  It was more about doing for my skin what I did for my body.  I exercised, I ate healthy foods, I tried to get a good amount of sleep… So why would I try to take care of all my organs and muscles and skip the outer layers?

My mother always said that there’s no sense trying to “cover up” – “starting with the right canvas,” she (rightly) advised, was vital.  Exfoliation, for one, is a great way to prep and smooth that canvas – it has to be done thoughtfully, of course, and without too much aggression (no one needs red, burned, or damaged skin!)  When done properly, you can revive and maintain a lit-from-within glow, and anything you care to put on top of it will both absorb better, and appear more seamless.

I recently read about Juice Beauty’s Stem Cellular Exfoliating Peel Spray – traditionally peels are applied with pads, from droppers, by dermatologists etc… .  But this is a little bit innovative in the sense that you can mist it on at home and have immediate results.

Per Juicebeauty.com:

Benefits

  • Visibly resurfaces with gentle plant-derived skin exfoliant.
  • Replenishes, restores and renews with a proprietary blend of fruit stem cells which have been infused into an organic resveratrol-rich grapeseed base.
  • Improves skin luminosity with Vitamin C.
  • Visibly brightens with ascorbic acid and licorice root extract.
  • Soothes with cucumber extract & organic aloe.

If you are using retinoid acid of any kind, or other AHAs or BHAs, you might want to avoid combining (as the review above, it can be a little (or a lot!) irritating.)  The spray does feature soothing additives in the way of aloe and cucumber, but it’s still possible to overdo.

I love the ease of this application of this skin-smoothing peel, and have heard a lot of great things about Juice Beauty over the years.  Eager to try it? Sounds like a wonderful addition to a skincare routine. and one I might check out myself!

Clinique Fresh Pressed Pure Vitamin C 7 Day System

Vitamin C has long been used for brightening the skin, evening tone, and tackling pesky fine lines.  It isn’t new, in this case, but it is pretty fabulous, and is a great alternative to sometimes harsher (though effective) topicals such as hydroquinone and retinoids.

One of the biggest issues with Vitamin C preparations, though, is that it can lose efficacy and potency rather rapidly.  Once we open a large-scale bottle, chances are we aren’t going to get through the product as quickly as it will begin to break down.

I love that Clinque has addressed this packaging concern with their new Fresh Pressed 7 Day System with Pure Vitamin C. I also, not so secretly, love powdered cleansers that activate with water!

Per Clinique, the two part system is designed to keep you radiant and retexturized:

This ultrafine powder cleanser releases the de-aging power of fresh vitamin C to refresh and renew. Instantly skin is awakened, purified, with a refined texture and brighter look. Use in AM to jump-start skin’s renewal.

This unique booster releases the de-aging power of 10% fresh vitamin C to refresh and renew. Use with your favourite Clinique moisturizer to instantly brighten skin’s look—and deliver remarkably even-toned, retexturized skin starting in just one week.

ReallyRee offers a review here, and Musingsofamuse shares a little info here.

Personally, I love the sound of it.  Taking care of your skin early will make a difference, so if you are younger, you can benefit as much from it!

Nails Inc Sheet Masks

I know – I did a double-take too.  Not exactly what you were expecting, but then why wouldn’t other manner of beauty companies jump on board?  Asia has always been a trend setter – not only in fashion, but in the beauty and skincare arenas (I’ve gone on about it forever, many of my early posts touting the overseas’ creativity and innovation.)

Let me quell the curiosity up front, though – The masks are made for your SKIN, as it turns out – so under the surface, it’s more like the company is branching out into other areas of beauty, as opposed to a sheet mask FOR your nails (which, honestly, wouldn’t surprise me after seeing news of these.)  Slight disappointment because sheet masks are everywhere to the point of sensory overload.

But though it makes sense for a beauty brand unrelated to makeup, or even the skin at all, to hop on the sheet mask wagon, it still feels like a surprise.

In the last several years, nails have had more attention – the products offered in mass market retailers alone is somewhat astounding.  You can get anything from gel polish, gel lamps, pre-designed but high-end glue on nails, nail art (stickers, rhinestones, tools), you name it.  But there always seems to be a lull or plateau – it’s like what else can you do with nails.  At home?

Nails are as much an accessory as far as fashion is concerned – they are an extension of that fancy handbag, after all – so keeping the field interesting is important for companies out there.  Boredom is a killer.

Enter Nails Inc with a few 15-minute sheets for anything from dryness, to anti-aging, to brightening.  When all else fails, I guess trying to expand makes some sense – I hope for them that it works.  From the sound of it, they might also be entering color cosmetics too…

Life’s Little Correctors

There’s an absolute onslaught of “correctors” in the marketplace right now…and I’m definitely not complaining.  The reality is that some days we aren’t going to be quite as tip-top as we’d like, but these little goodies can conceal some of it so we look better than we are feeling!

Benefit’s Life’s Little Correctors Color Correcting Kit palette is a fun way to not only try a variety of Benefit’s best-selling concealers, but you get all of them in one place – ahhhh, multi-use products. ❤  The $20 kit contains:

  • 0.05 oz Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer in Light
  • 0.05 oz Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer in Light/Medium
  • 0.04 oz Erase Paste Brightening Concealer in Medium
  • 0.04 oz Eye Bright Instant Eye Brightener
  • 0.04 oz Lemon Aid Color Correcting Eyelid Prime

I have WAY too many products as it is, but this one is super affordable, and filled with very-useable, wearable products… Tempting!  (The front packaging is so cute and cheeky too, isn’t it?! 🙂 )

Spring / Summer 2016 – Chanel Le Blanc

Thanks to iVoce for the images of this up and coming Chanel Collection!  It will be launching in Japan on February 19, 2016, in Asia during February…and will be coming to the USA for Nordstrom in Summer 2016.

While I don’t have names of everything specifically, the Collection will include:

  • Chanel Perle et Fantasy Compact Powder (the pink and white pearl embossed powder)
  • Chanel Le Blanc Quattro Eyeshadow Palette
  • Lip glosses (these look bright and fun!)
  • Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick (in “intense” shades)
  • Cream blush (looks like a medium bright pink)
  • Chanel Le Blanc L’Extrait (20 ml – a whitening skincare product with a pearlescent shine)
  • Coco Mademoiselle Touche de Parfum (released March 18, 2016.  The product is a concentrated gel formulation and housed in a lip gloss-like container for easier application.)
  • Looks like a few other items as well…eager to update…!

The pearlized powered looks divine…and anything that whitens and brightens is awesome in my book! ❤

Winter 2015 / 2016 – Garnier

There are TONS of new products hitting mass market stores right now – I have seen some of these myself already.  In addition to the below, I also saw new haircare from Garnier – strengthening shampoo and conditioner, as well as a color treatment which I saw a photo of recently.  So more is definitely coming!

The below photos are all from BudgetBeautyBlog, so I am attributing them there – I always seem to forget my camera so many thanks for sharing your images online!  As I mentioned, I have only seen some of these products (such as the Micellar Water) so far, but they are rolling in steadily.  Some of what I am seeing reminds me of existing products in the existing Garner lineups, so I’m curious about how these are different.

The newbies, under the SkinActive umbrella, are:

  • Clearly Brighter Overnight Leave-On Peel
  • Clearly Brighter Dark Spot Corrector
  • Moisture Rescue Actively Hydrating Daily Lotion
  • Micella Cleansing Water (2 formulas)
  • Clean Purifying Cleansing Wipes
  • Clean Pore Purifying 2-in-1 Clay Cleanser and Mask
  • Clean Shine Control Cleansing Gel
  • Miracle Anti-Fatigue Wake-Up Hydra-Gel Moisturizer
  • Miracle Anti-Fatigue Sleeping Cream
  • Miracle Anti-Fatigue Eye Gel Cream

Paul & Joe Espresso Inspired

I ran across these ADORABLE little Paul & Joe Beaute duos and had to share – if the swirling froth on the top of an espresso was made into candies, it would look like these!  (And incidentally, when I scrolled down and read, that’s exactly what inspired the brand to create these – I guess they did a good job!  My second thought was the Werther’s candies! I get the sugar-free ones. 🙂 )

Raspberry truffle looks delicious, and uber feminine.  I would imagine this could have a bit of a brightening effect and honestly, depending on how much shimmer was in there, I’d swirl it on the top of my cheekbones.

The Cafe Macchiato looks amazing also…  Soft, neutral, and super easy to wear.  It does appear to have some glimmer, though, which is something I keep in mind.  The more undetected for me, the better!

Caramel Drizzle is more on the orange and apricot side… I bet this would be DIVINE on a deeper complexion!

The packaging is precious too… The kind of thing you could leave out on a vanity and not think twice about.  All three are different, but all very vintage in feeling.

Lucent Magique

I don’t know about you, but I LOOOVE looking to stores and brands overseas to see what everyone ELSE is getting in the marketplace!  Sometimes we (USA) will get spinoffs, or perhaps the same products later on…and vice versa.  So I have always loved to snoop because I’m curious about trends…and what goodies might come this way.

I think the L’Oreal Magic Lucent line is gorgeous, and I would be MORE than delighted if some of these came to the USA…I heard the cushion *might* be?!  I am sure that droning on about my joy in seeing the Asian influence on cosmetics will be a hideous bore (since I go on about it ALL the time…!) 😉

I’ll be honest, I was SUPER disappointed in the Lumi line…the one highlighter I bought (in Ice) was like a sparklefest.  Now when I was competing in Ballroom, that would have been fine.  But NOT for daily wear for me.  Way too much.

These *appear* to be sans shimmer (though I can’t say for certain.)

There are some photos of a young lady who has purchased and reviewed the product here... It looks pretty amazing on her, and I love the idea that these would be offered at mass market pricing…not like some of those that HAVE hit the USA, that can be found in Sephora (pretty penny more for those.)

And if you are UBER curious and have to have something, check out eBay (my favorite for tracking down such things! 🙂 ) I may indulge myself, but I’ll keep hoping in the meantime that some of it comes this way. *crossing fingers*

Givenchy Tient Couture

Givenchy has a new addition for summer 2015 – Teint Couture “Embellishing” Concealer.  Why embellishing?  I’m not entirely sure…but perhaps it’s in that the product is “a dual-toned, silky concealer that hides imperfections and illuminates”?

Screen Shot 2015-07-30 at 11.49.32 AM

Whatever the reason, the concealer sounds pretty darn amazing – it’s priced at $35, which in my own mind is kind of hefty, but if it lives up to it’s claims, it could be like a Touch Éclat type situation.

“One side features a universal pink, light-reflecting stripe that instantly brightens up dark circles, smoothing away the look lines and signs of fatigue, and the other, darker side color corrects and erases imperfections. Formulated with bi-colored pigments to conceal and highlight the skin around the eyes, this concealer brightens up the complexion.”

Sephora isn’t showing any reviews as yet, and I haven’t seen others online.  I am sure, however, that they will be cropping up shortly!
