I actually start blushing.
MAC Strobe Cream is definitely one of those cult, “must-have,” go to products in the beauty world – it’s been used backstage at Runway shows religiously since it’s launch, and very likely will continue to be one of those fail-safe, backup glow-getters ad infinitum.
It took a while but MAC finally decided to expand on the product – there were posts about it months ago, but given that it is set to launch this November (for Autumn / Winter 2016/17, and indeed when this post is scheduled for), we’ve got more to say about it now.
The one I was always most interested in was Redlite – maybe it’s the vamp in me, maybe it’s that the red lends itself to flushing cheeks. Either way, I was psyched to see a review that focused on this shade in particular. There will be others, not to worry if red is not your hue. It total, the selection will be:
These definitely are shade shifters, and that’s one of the reasons I love them. They don’t appear to be glittery or garish, they just add a cool (or warm!) sheen to the skin, giving you a hyped-up highlight instead of the same old, same old.
I’m a little bit partial to the Nutcracker because I grew up being classically trained – 10 years of ballet, and you’ll see ten years of the Nutcracker around the holidays…if not more (once a dancer, always a dancer.) I desperately wanted to be in it, actually, and a friend and fellow dancer was – spectacular!
MAC is embracing the fun and festivities with a Holiday Nutcracker-inspired Collection – Sweet as can be. For details, check out Chicprofile, who shares the full list of goodies, and a few more images. A little tricky to see all of the items clearly, given the bold pink patterning of dots and stripes but…anyway! Personally, I love the Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Stormy Pink, a muted grey-purple hue. I feel like it would add a barely-there depth (not a new shade, so much, but sometimes they aren’t!)
I guess they’re still on the contour kick, along with a whole lot of shading (and fading)…
Still a fan of the trend? Apparently it’s going strong backstage – and in Asia (not surprisingly, since they tend to be ahead of the times.)
Can I just say…holy versatility?!
Make Up Forever’s Artist Shadow and Powder Blush is a dream for anyone who either dolls up every day…OR performs or has a major event (think wedding, gala, etc.)
I have a wedding (my own!) coming up soon – unfortunately (or fortunately, so says my wallet!) I already have a ton of stuff to work with. Had I not, I’d likely have gone straight to this enormous selection to find the shades I want to mix. Had I seen this back in my Ballroom Dancing days, I’d likely own half by now. Okay, maybe just a fourth.
The formulas come in
And there are more shades that I have EVER seen for any other product. Truly, a plethora. No matter what your mood, what the season, or what the occasion, your pretty much promised something from this array. And nevermind if the shade says “eyeshadow” or “blush” specifically – you can basically use it however you want.
Sharing Budgetbeautyblog’s post for anyone eager to see up and coming newbies!
I’m one of those need-to-be-natural types, so anything that falls into that category works for me. I don’t actually have the luxury of being incredibly girly-girl to begin with, given my propensity for all things Martial Arts and sporty. But having been in the Fashion Business for many years, I appreciate those who can.
There’s a TON of hubbub about Two Faced’s Spring 2017 Peach Collection (launching November and December of this year – Merry Christmas?!) Having seen multiple posts, I thought I’d share the one that had the most images (or at least ones no one else has) – from ChicProfile.
I’ll let you click the link above for more images – sometimes a surprise makes it more fun! 😉
These snappy Quick Trik Sticks showed up in a post I read a while back…but I hadn’t seen much more about them since. Runways are always a great place to snoop for new trends and products (clothing, cosmetics, and even skincare) – backstage photos often will offer a sneak peek or five!
These contouring, highlighting, blushing, bronzing duos are launching this July and August, so I am sure there will be more coverage in the next few weeks. In the meantime, Chicprofile shared a more comprehensive list of shades, info and photos:
MAC Studio Quicktrik Stick
There are a TON of sticks like this on the market so really it’s a take-your-pick scenario – these sound like they will have a gleaming finish with a touch of sparkle. For those of you that want to stay more subdued, and less high-sheen, fear not…you have a plethora of options!
There’s something to be said for flushed cheeks – the kind you get from figure skating training during the winter…OUTdoors, from a great Martial Arts class…, or from a romp with your hunnie. For Tarte, inspiration for the newest Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush shades comes from the latter – how saucy, Tarte!
All three hues manage the kind of just flushed color you want to wake up with, but sometimes have to exert yourself to get (or, conversely, that you have to buy and brush on. Whatever works!) They maintain a natural, your-color-but-better, “nude” kind of enhancement – nothing overly done, garish, or contrived with these. Hallelujah. I want to buy all three for that reason alone (though the sassy names add a level of fun to them by default.)
Taste does have a slew of other products as well but since I’m all for a healthy flush of color – which typically I tote around as a byproduct of my Martial Arts training and exercise – the Amazonian Clay shades caught my attention first. 🙂
The rest of the lineup, per Temptalia (who always has thorough lists – thank you!) includes:
I feel like the colors of the rest of the Collection read more heading-into-Autumn, but regardless I think they’re pretty divine.
More glow-getters on the horizon, this time from cosmetic giant, Estee Lauder. Genuine Glow Summer 2016 Collection includes five super-star, radiance-delivering products:
What I love about these products is that they are ageless – they can work beautifully for someone in their 20’s as much as someone in her 50’s – they are designed to give a natural illumination to the complexion with subtle, flushed color.
There’s no over-doing here, no mask-like finish, or real ability to be too heavy-handed in the first place. Hallelujah!
In my own mind the goal of any color cosmetic (shy of ballroom / skating / theater performance (etc) OR your wedding (mine’s soon! ❤ ) / night out (etc)) is to enhance. Not hide.
Yes, you ARE gorgeous enough to go without makeup! But for days when you might need an extra boost – just enough to give your bright eyes the spotlight (as opposed to sleepless undeyes or lackluster skin!) – these hydrating, priming, and brightening products can help.
