I smiled when I saw this e-mail because I am actually planning my own wedding! ❤
I feel blessed to have had a background in performance-based sports (figure skating, ballroom, ballet) because doing my own makeup was basically a pre-req. Sure, you could pay to have someone do it but – trust me – those fees added up! So, I learned to do it on my own!
Most ladies I know hire an artist for the wedding day – it’s a great way to limit stress (and time!) if you aren’t used to doing a more formal look, or if you just darn well don’t feel like it!
BUT…if you DO want to do your own makeup, Sephora has a fun little tutorial. . .
I love the idea that a bride is enhanced on her wedding day – not overdone, and not feeling like she is someone else! A dear friend of mine was incredibly worried about that because she doesn’t wear makeup at all, EVER. I assured her that very basic (and few) products would just bring out her features and natural beauty. . .without changing her dramatically, leaving her feeling too “out of her skin.” You aren’t on a stage, so don’t worry about having to be heavy-handed – it isn’t necessary.
The lovely redhead in the e-mail Sephora sent looks adorable both ways (before AND after) – she doesn’t lose her charm or beauty, her features are simply highlighted so as to take a more prominent place on her day. 🙂 Love that.
