Yes, I’m one of those. I can’t claim to cook per se…
The bulk of my “usual” fare is:
- Steamed or grilled vegetables
- Broiled, baked, or grilled fish (Salmon is my favorite!)
- Grilled or baked chicken
- Shrimp (cocktail, I prefer small ones! Or grilled)
- Sliced poultry
- Eggs (poached, medium boiled, whites scrambled…)
- Fresh fruits
- Protein brownies every once in a while…but I’m not exactly a baker
I realize some would consider not cooking somewhat appalling and, I’ll admit, I’ve had fits of “I’m deficient as a female” moments. But…the reality is that I have never really need to cook too much – I’m entirely a veggies and protein kind of girl, with fresh fruits thrown in for good measure…
None of my “usual” jazz is particularly hard to prepare…so a broiling oven / toaster, boiling water, a blender, an oven and a microwave work extremely well!
I am, however, incredibly grateful to my hunnie, who is UH-MAZING at grilling – everything he makes comes out perfectly. I try to make up for my lack of knowing how myself by cleaning up afterwards – it’s definitely not out of laziness or not wanting to contribute, after all!
That said, I CAN follow directions (I’m not *that* horrific! *lol*) So I’m sure when required, I’ll be able to figure it out…but cooking was never a top “fun activity” for me, so I guess I haven’t dived in.
In any case, he’s amazing at it, and I am super thankful for all that he does.
We went to Whole Foods the other night and bought a bunch of goodies… The result was as below…and it was DELICIOUS. Lots of protein, no extra sauces or funny business needed. Just great flavor, healthy food...and a lovely dose of grilled lycopene (tomatoes. 😉 )
